Guest ukbetty Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Hey can anyone help...i am business analyst and thankfully this is on the skills in demand list and also for VIC state sponsorship. I have just sent ACS applic for my IT skills to be assessed my Australia computer society. I understand that ACS can take months to come back. in the meantime i wanted some advice on whether i should start the state sponsorship application with Victoria whilst my skills are being assessed and i get my IELTS. (VIC govt dont require these at the time of application). I am asking this question becasue my skills are in demand in VIC and i dont know how long for?? Should i put in a application now and this will be pending the postive skills assessment and IELTS test. OR should i wait till i get all my docs ready. Please help!!
Pumpkin Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I would wait. I don't see why the state would grant sponsorship to somebody without a skills assessment when there will be a whole heap of applicants with the skills assessment already.
armandra Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I'd say go ahead with the Vic SS app. All that Vic needs to decide if you in or not is your detailed CV, which is sent to be evaluated by an industry panel. Once the panel decision comes in positive, they would proceed with conditional sponsorship approval, until the skills assessment is submitted. The sponsorship would be valid for 4 months from the date of approval email. This has happened earlier too. As far as Vic getting applications with skills assessments is concerned, it hardly matters if the skills assessment has been provided or not. If they FIND your CV interesting, you are in. Just go ahead and hope for the best. Good luck! P.S: This is exactly what I'm planning to do in a day or two, apply without ACS skills assessment that is armandra!

Do you know of many people that have secured SS before they have a skills assessment?
armandra Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Do you know of many people that have secured SS before they have a skills assessment? I've seen that happening earlier. The point is instead of waiting for ACS assessment, wherein no one is sure if Vic SS quota in that particular occupation would be up by then. (Vic has already said they have a limit of apps they will be approving and total of 4500 places for the year 2010-2011. This is my honest opinion and the disclaimer always applies when you ask a question on a public forum. armandra!
tcillc Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Can I lodge my sponsorship application without my skill assessment? We do not require a skill assessment at the time of lodgement and will advise you if and when it is required. If you have already obtained a skill assessment then you may attach this to your application. Source: FAQs about Skilled Sponsored Visas - Live in Victoria - Live in Victoria
Guest VickyMel Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Yes I can confirm that VIC do not require the assessment prior to them considering your application. You might also be interested in checking out this thread run by Uli - relating to people applying for VIC SS - recently the subject was discussed by someone who has applied but has not got their assessment back. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/99554-new-vic-smp-where-you-now.html#post909927 We applied without the assessment - although did attach it later but they never requested it. As Armandra mentioned VIC are very interested in your CV - they vet applications through an industrial panel - I think they may be more interested in the CV than the assessment as quite a few people are asked to expand their CV. I think it is quite useful as if you need SS to be considered for a visa it is quite good to be able to apply without having to spend the money getting the assessment until you know if you will be granted SS. Guest Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 hi OH also applying for victoria ss as a telecom tech.do we have to attach a cover letter with the CV? pls help.
Guest VickyMel Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I can't remember if it was required (and it is a long time since I did it) but I think we attached a bit of a cover letter to the beginning of the CV (I think there was only the place to attach one document so we typed it onto an initial page in front of the CV). VIC do like a full and detailed CV so that they can see what you actually do (which I imagine is different depending upon your occupation) - but if you don't put enough detail in they do come back to you and ask for more.
