Insurance while transiting to Australia

We're heading to Oz on the 28th of this month and are staying temporarily with family.

We've got a load of expensive (£6k+) camera gear which is essentially our hand luggage but I just realised that we obviously don't have house contents insurance and the one firm I contacted about insurance said that I wasn't eligible for their policy because I would no longer be a UK resident.

Has anyone else been in the same boat and if so how did you get around it?

I asked the same question on here when I made the move in June - unfortunately travel insurance doesn't cover things when you are moving and I was unable to get any suitable cover. I just had to make sure all the laptops and Jewelry etc were kept close at all times.

If you do find anything please post on here because I am sure it would be something that many would use.

Found some links to the UK Post Office, and a bunch called Walkabout Travel Insurance so will give them a ring in the new year.

Guig,

Yep I looked into them but because I was emigrating and not just traveling they couldn't cover me - but good luck, you may get a different response to mine!
