Guest guest17301 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Well another year has flown by, I can hardly believe it...I hope everyone can reflect on the year and find some positives even if it didn't always go your way.. As you look back over what the year has brought you are there any surprises? Would you have guessed what the year held in store for you? I wouldn't have predicted buying our first home at the beginning of 2010 so who knows what's in store for 2011....Thats the best bit about new Year for me, the excitement of the uncertainty, if lady luck is shining on you it could be your year... But mostly it's just important to be happy and content and if you are the years bound to be a good one. So heres to 2011, I hope it brings health, wealth, peace and happiness to you all, CHEERS!:cute: xxx

For all those waiting for their visas I hope 2011 is the year for you and for those who have decided to go back to the UK I want to wish you all Good Luck as well. Live each day as it is your last and you will enjoy life even more. Always tell your loved one that you love them, I always make a point of telling my OH I Love Him just before going to sleep every night.
TheOptimist Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Aww, nice words Fi :wubclub: Well 2010 was a very odd year. In lots of ways. I would say that of all my 32 years, it was the most challenging yet with more ups and downs that I care to remember! But at the end of it, though I am totally drained, it will have been worth it when I get to Oz early in February. The main highlight was getting my Partner Visa granted in October, and after years of battling, finally getting my divorce through. The main low was waving goodbye to my boyfriend back in July and not knowing whether I would get my visa and therefore whether we could be together. Its 6 months since we've seen each other and I have learned a lot about myself, not least that I am stronger and more determined than I ever realised. More ups and downs to come in 2011, am certain of that, but we have the building blocks in place to lay down a secure and hopefully happy future together - and it doesn't get much better than that when I think there was a chance only a few months ago that we might not get a shot at it. In an attempt to get PR I spent 7 months in Oz which I loved but that meant I was away from my beloved which was really hard!. Whilst I was there though we found out that I would be able to apply for an RRV and thanks to a lot of hard work and support from my parents we put together an application and it was granted! So, with that I had to come back to Scotland and apply for Partner Visa for the o/h and try sell house! Well, the house did not sell so we rented it out and we applied for partner visa and after a 4 month wait on the 15th October Mark was granted his partner visa!:jiggy: Flight booked for me to fly to Perth on 5th Feb and Mark will follow in March as he has to work on. So, after 3 years of trying to get to Oz and lots of money spent we are eventully in 2011 starting our new life in Oz! I am so looking forward to it as I will be back with my family whom I have been away from for 19 years! I am also looking forward to what opportunities & surprises Oz will brng for us both! ali Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Xmas and new year bring back lost of memories because we moved to Aus at the start of Jan 2007 so coming upto our 4th anniversary. Reflecting on the year tonight as a family, my son (11) wondered what he'd be doing in the uk if he stayed. My daughter (15) is happy that we moved and can't imagine being back in England. Us (46) are very content with our lives and are happy that we took the opportunities afforded to us. Happy New year to everyone .. hope it's happy and peaceful x

Particularly that we started the year convinced our Oz visa app was dead and buried and we were trying to reassess where else we could emigate to. Fast forward to the end of the year and we are now awaiting our visa grant:radar: Still, whatever year you've had - PIOers have a totally fab 2011! That's what I'm aiming for:v_SPIN:

It's where I've wanted to be for a long time I just didn't think I would get there!! Happy new year everyone hope it's a great one for you all.
