Guest myboysjam Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi there I am just looking for some help. I have currently applied for a family sponsor .I applied in April 2010 but now I am looking at changing to a state sponsor as my occupation is on it carpenter. I was wondering if anyone thought this was a better way to go and quicker or would I be better just to sit and wait on the family sponsorship as no one really knows what's happening with them . Thanks
Jobo Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Depends on what catagory you are currently in. having state sponsorship obviously moves you right up the priorty list to Cat 2, however it depends on how long it takes for you to get the sponsorship. if you are already Cat 3 and it takes over 6months to get the SMP SS then it might not save that much time. however if you are in cat 4 then it will definitly be quicker with SS...if you are in Cat 4 then the chances of getting a visa are very slim...you'll be waiting years and are more likely to be capped and ceased. Family sponsorship means jack in terms of processing times...it just enables you to apply with 100 points rather than the 120 you need on a 175 application. Are you on the new SOL i.e. cat 3? also which states are you thining of applying for - the processing times and chances vary greatly. Jo
Guest myboysjam Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I am category 3and I was hoping to apply for sa. Thanks
Pumpkin Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 If your occupation is on an SMP and you can secure sponsorship then it would probably be quicker, you just have to weigh up the extra hassle with the extra speed.
Guest myboysjam Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I just can't seem to see anything happening in family sponsorship and everything moving in the ss so I think a little bit more paper work will be worth it if I get visa quicker .
Jobo Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I am category 3and I was hoping to apply for sa. Thanks As SA SMP not out yet you are best to wait until that is released. good news you are already in Cat 3 but you will have to wait for all the cat 2s to be processed before you get a CO. If you are on the SA SMP (or another state) then you've nothing to lose by applying - so long as you don't mind the extra paperwork, possible expenses etc. i'm sure you will make the right decision - all the best Jo
