Hello

I have a smaill amount of money that I would like to exchange but I dont know if I should exchange it here or if I would get a better deal taking the cash with me to Oz and changing it there?

Advice anyone?

Thanks

use somebody like ozforex to get the best rate. Whether you initiate the transaction from Uk or Australia is unlikely to make much difference.

We have just used Moneycorp, we have also been sent a card to use at the airport should we choose to exchange money (which we will do). Leila x p.s. if you use Moneycorp don't forget to say you are a member of PIO.

Same for me. You'll get a better rate!

Hi Emma!

I use xe.com and their service. It's really easy to set up and you just need a bank account in Australia to send the money to (doesn't have to be in your name). They do good rates and there isn't usually a charge.

However, whoever you use at the moment you won't get much at all with the rubbish exchange rate. I haven't transferred anything for a long time so my savings are still stuck in the UK - am hoping for it to get better in the New Year.....

I used moneycorp and once you have an account with them you can move large or small amounts over (different rates depending on the amount). I found them to have the best rates, but have a look around. Watch out for hidden costs such as 'one of transaction fees etc as these would soon cancel out an apparently good rate of exchange.
