Guest Kerryandpete Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hi there, I am new to this forum so please bare with me :embarrassed: I am British and married to an Australian man. We have been married a year. We married in Australia and currently reside here. I am currently on a 457 visa, no longer working for my employer and visa coming to an end in the next few weeks :arghh: We have been a bit slack in our application and now need to get our finger out! I have pretty much completed the forms but just have a few questions if anyone has been through the same process here in Oz...... Firstly- previous passport numbers!!! I have no idea how to get hold of them and if i don't include them is it a big deal??? Secondly- My husband is a Miner and does fly in fly out and by the time I complete the app he may be away at work. Is it a big deal he is not with me when I hand in the application at the immigration office?? I am assuming we are not interviewed right away as some people post there applications right?? and lastly any other Brits have this problem..... I have my original birth certificate but it does not have my parents names on it??? I have checked with my parents and this is only what they were given. So any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks so much Kerry
Guest Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi, welcome to Poms in Oz. To answer your questions: 1. don't worry about not knowing your previous passport numbers, just put as much information as you can list - i.e. mention the previous passport but put "Not Known" in any box where you can't answer. 2. Yep, no problem that he won't be there when you hand in the app. Most likely the person you hand it to won't give it more than a quick check over (if you're lucky!). 3. You need to get hold of a full copy of your birth certificate (there are two types : Birth certificates - the copy you have is the shorter version). You can order a birth certificate online here: Registration Services - Certificate Ordering Service (will probably need to get it sent to your parents and then forwarded to you in Oz). Hope this helps )
