junellew Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Can anyone please give me some advice on shipping just a few boxes/crates to Australia? We live on a Scottish island so this may complicated things but can get it taken over to the mainland easily for pickup. Have looked at few removals companies but it will literally just be a few boxes not a container or anything. Was hoping to get it all in our luggage if we could get excess baggage but no chance with emirates so far! Thanks for any info!
calNgary Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hi you dont have to fill a container, we sent a few boxes over with Crown Relo, its called a share container and works well for people like us. We had no problems and have actually brought over 2 seperate small lots with them. Hope this helps Cal x
junellew Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 Thanks Cal - just saw Crown on another post....emailed them last night, they rung this morn and were soooo helpful! Getting back to me with a quote so fingers crossed its a nice cheap one!
emmaroo Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 you should have a look at SevenSeas Shipping!
junellew Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 Thanks for that - I had a look but they don't seem to have any size of packing boxes big enough for the picture frames we want to sent over. Great to get another one to compare price to though.
Guest TaniaandRob Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Hiya, Anglo pacific also do small consignments and they have "picture boxes". - all their box sizes are listed on their site. I've heard mixed reviews about them but the service I've recieved so far has been great. My boxes arrive today. Also they dont charge for collection of unused boxes and if your ordering a few they are free so you can order a mixed bunch and then just use the ones that suit you best. They also ship every two weeks so they garantee their maximum shipping time. I am hoping to send my boxes in the next week or so then they should arrive just shortly after we do... Good Luck.
junellew Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 thanks - will give them a look too then. Let me know how you get on with them. I see you're from hull? I'm from lincoln orginally - not far down the road! Where abouts in gippsland are you moving too?
Guest TaniaandRob Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Ok a little bit disgruntled with CP now- my boxes didnt arrive! After my hubby taking a day off work to wait for them too and now I'll have to wait till Tuesday to sort it out and have another day off waiting for delivery. I was going to be all packed this weekend grrrr.... Small town Boolarra where I grew up, Rob is from Hull.
junellew Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 ah - not so good then. Will have to check around. Hope you get them sorted soon.

Thanks for any info! Hi, have you looked at this website International Removals - get a free quote at Excess International Movers they do small shipments. We have 1 box to send as our household stuff left in September and I have literally come across them! Cheers Matt
junellew Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 thanks matt - went online and they gave quite a good quote - just waiting to hear back from few others now and make my choice......then pack it all off, can't wait!!
Guest sirmatt101 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 thanks matt - went online and they gave quite a good quote - just waiting to hear back from few others now and make my choice......then pack it all off, can't wait!! Hi June. I booked up this morning for our 1 box, its 70 x 45 x 45 cms & 30kg, sending it by sea freight as not in a hurry and it was £95, which I think is ok. Collection was free as we are just inside the M25 corridor, otherwise they want £30 collection or of course you can drop off at one of their depots! Just busy filling in all the forms again, same as for the household shipping, reams of it. Cheers Matt
Guest TaniaandRob Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 ah - not so good then. Will have to check around. Hope you get them sorted soon. Boxes arrived today. Anglo pacific is blaming TNT saying they were told that TNT tried to deliver on Friday and no one was home. TNT tells me this is not the case and indeed when they tried to deliver today I was not home but the driver phoned me and just brought them to my in-laws where I was visiting so no harm done. Haven't got home to check and see what the quality is like or if they are the right ones yet. The rep in London has now fobbed me off to a Manchester lot.... fingers crossed I guess.....
junellew Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Thanks again Matt - I suppose that is a fare weight but the price I had for alot more was more reasonable than that. Someone I spoke to on the phone the other day did say the more you send the better it is as there are minimum weights etc. Bet its fab to see your last box off though! Tania -not sure I want to risk them from what you have said. We actually live on an island and will be having to take my boxes over to a friend on mainland so need someone pretty reliable .... I hope you have more luck with them and get them sorted. I will let you all know who I decide on and how we get on....never been so excited about packing some boxes before :jiggy:
junellew Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 just FYI I went with seven seas shipping in the end, a good £300 cheaper than PSS quote. Most reasonable and helpful all round of all the people I looked at so far. Most of PSS's extra cost was delivery as I'm not in London!

Excessbaggage.com collected yesterday, they have their own vehicles within the M25, so collection is free. Driver weighed the box, which was about 3kgs heavier than when I booked as we crammed a few more bits in, but didn't effect final price. Now just wait and see when we get it down under, see if I am still well pleased with them! Cheers Matt
