Welcome to PIO I have found all the info on here really useful and people are really friendly. Have you been to Oz before? Where about are you planning to live?

Hi Louey, yeah I met my husband in Oz when i was on a WHV. We travelled together for 5 months before coming to the uk. We also went back for a holiday last year which was great to confirm that i still really love it there! Husbands family are from Gembrooke area in south east melbourne so we may be settling there. Planning on doing a 6month tour of the country first though with some friends and rellies so all very exciting! Looks like you are moving out soon then? I bet you can't wait! What visa are you on?

My OH is a nurse so we are on a 457 visa as she is employer sponsored. Melbourne is gorgeous we spent about 3 weeks in and around the city last year and loved it. A grand tour for 6 months that would be fab....I'm very jealous. I was looking forward to some sunshine but it appears that Queensland is truely have a wet season unfortunately!!!

Welcome to pomsinoz, Gembrook is beautiful and a lovely area for you to settle. We nearly moved to Upper Pakenham a few years back. I am sure where ever you go you will love it.

Hi all.......first time posting so hope im doing it right!? (sorry if not)

We are hoping to start our visa process soon and move to Brisbane. We have visited Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane over the last 3years and love them all but think Brisbane best meets all our needs.

We are having to wait as i have not got 12months recent work experience! I have been working in education but not early years. I am BA (Hons) Early Childhood qualified and have previous experince but was 8years ago. I have completed voluntry work in Early years over past 12months whilst qualifying but this wont be enough for assessment purposes, i dont think?

My husband is a Civil Engineer and works for himself over here successfully managing his own business for 2years.....but hes not qualified!? He has over 12years experience but other than completing the CDR not sure if he would qualify?

We are 100% commited to emigrating but like most are finding all the small print and changes very confusing.

Again not sure if this is the right place to ask but any advice about our situation would be grately appreciated.

Many Thanks......look forward to talking to others in a similar situation x

Thanks for all the welcomes....my spouse visa was actually pretty tricky seeing as i'm married with 2 boys with dual citizenship. They even made me have a full health check (in edinburgh when i live on a scottish island!) and then queried it with the oz head office as i have a history of cancer in the family! But i made it so i can't complain and it sounds like anyone going out through work visas have even more hurdles to jump. I don't envy you that and can't offer any help to you I'm afraid "the leach family" only to say that it is definitely going to be worth it in the end. What a fantastic country. I found that I used my application as a huge project/essay and worked my way through it methodically checking and double checking everything if that helps a little.

Yeah I've heard Brisbane can be pretty rainy - it's so hard to decide where to settle, it really is a huge diverse country so i hope our 6months will help us. I have only seen Victoria and nsw so far,my OH has seen most of it!

Kate, thanks, yeah Gembrooke is really beautiful, great to have the family near but maybe i might need a bit more heat in the long run!

Great to meet a few people and hope to keep in touch to grab some more advice if thats ok....and who knows, maybe able to catch up for a beer and a bbq on our grand tour!:jiggy:
