Guest Tam Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Hi We are heading out to Brisbane in a few weeks...and staying with friends for the first few weeks until we get our feet on the ground and have a chance to look at houses...what I need to know is what docs you need to be able to rent. My OH has a job to go to...so has contract and will have payslip(s). Also gather that you need ID, Drivers, Medicare card, bank cards, and references. What if you dont rent and are a homeowner...are annual motgage statements any good? Any other tips please? Thanks Tam

From my research, I found that its not always the same though. In general, you need to get 100 points (any of these will help): Birth Certificate Passport Citizenship Certificate Drivers Licence Public Service Employee ID card Commonwealth or State Government financial entitlement card (eg Pension card) Medicare card Credit Card (only 1 per institution) Documents on which your name and address appear: Car registration Utility bill Rental receipts Records of another financial institution showing you've been a member for 12 months or more But, in our case, we have showed the agent our passports, driving licence, a few utility bills (we got telephone and electricity/water bills from home) and also showed them some reference letters (from work really!) The more docs you have the better  Good luck! B!K3R

Thanks Tam  Note that you have to put a pack of information together for all adults that will be living in the house. We included: Passports Driving licence Job offer letters UK bank statement Reference letter - two lines from the estate agent in UK managing our house, i.e. saying it was a well presented and maintained property. We also wrote a covering letter about ourselves i.e. professional couple, no children, two cats, homeowners for many years, have jobs etc etc. Did the trick for us.
Guest cosmicsis Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Hi there - any info as above great, proving that you are trustworthy etc. We brought our mortgage statements with us as didn't rent either - if you have sold your house in UK then your solicitor letter or bank statements etc and sometime offering a few months upfront may help but not necessary. Good luck with the move xx

Guest The Pom Queen Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Sorry for off topic. But what do purple squares mean? When people click your chicken your bar slowly goes up. I think the max purple bars you can receive is 6, so you are well on your way, well done lol:notworthy:
