Hi all, apologies if i have posted in the wrong area.

I am a registered nurse and my husband and I have been discussing the possibilty of moving to australia however still not 100% sure therefore we would like to come for 6 months where I would work as a nurse around the perth area.

the problem i have is, i cant seem to find the right visa which we would apply for.

Have looked into the working holiday visa which would be perfect however it states you can not have any dependants, we would be travelling with our 4 year old son therefore would not be eligible for this visa.

I have also looked at the 457 temporary resident visa, however have noticed that you must have a job sponser you and then commit to them for 2 years therfore aswe would only be there 6 months this visa also would not be suitable.

can anyone suggest any other visas?

Also I would like to go through an agent in the UK to ensure I do everything correctly however have noticed there appears to be thousands when you google it. Can anyone reccommend a good agent?

thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the type of visa for only 6 months work - perhaps an agency would be the best bet for you so that you could work in different places.

You would need to be registered to work

There is no such visa designed for the situation you describe specifically.

The WHV is the closest, but as you have identified yourself you are not eligible to apply for it as you have a child.

The 457 visa is probably the only one that would be fairly quick to get and would allow you to work. I think you would have to come with a view for it being longer term but if you don't like it in Australia, nobody can force you to stay.

Hi, thankyou for your replies. With regards to having the 457 visa. If I did obtain this and decide to leave Australia after 6 months , I understand the visa would be cancelled however would it be possible to obtain another 457 or permenant resident visa should we then decide to go back to Australia again?

I'm not saying we would definately leave after 6 months, just looking into options. Thanks

My last comment sounded as tho I would be abusing the visa system, hope no one takes it as that. To clarify I am meaning that if we do go over with a view to staying however after 6 months or even a year decide to leave are we then not eligible to apply for any further visas? Also on the 457 visa are u able to leave Australia for holidays back to UK?

Thanks again

There would be nothing to stop you applying for another visa, however, if the sponsor assists with moving costs you may find that if you break the contract you will have to pay them something back.
