Guest51810 Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Hey adam, i know this thread is old but just had to say hope you managed to get to Australia and i cant believe your from Carluke, I live 5 mins away! Such a small world! lol
tartan adam Posted June 26, 2011 Author Posted June 26, 2011 hi stacey, we arrived here in perth in april on a whv but hopefully can get some1 to sponsor but all good so far. where abouts is it ur from?
Guest51810 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 We're from lanark so its a very small world! Well done! you enjoying it? My partners just a few years over the working holiday age so not a option for us, bit of a pain. Are you a drainer? Hes a excavation operator but has done quite a lot of drainage work, spoke to a migration agent and they said the drainer way is not a option for us cos he doesnt have any paper work for this, just various tickets to drive machines and different safety tickets and courses. Its a pain, theres so many digger driving jobs out there that dont seem to be getting filled! So our only other option is sponsorship. Im sure youl have no problem getting a sponsor and glad to hear your having a good time!
tartan adam Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 sure is a small world eh lol?? yea we're loving here so far plus with the rain the now it makes it feel a bit more like home lol!! iv been an excavator operator for the past 4 yrs but was mostly laying drainage as well as the doing the other groundwork stuff for a few years b4 that. im hoping 2 get a sponsor here as a drainer then if it happens do my relevant qualifications here then hopefully apply 4 pr but its still early days. i believe tho if u want something bad enough u'll make it happen so stick in there. id say tho it might b hard 2 get a sponsor from uk so would prob b best 2 get out here on a holiday and go talk 2 a few companies when ur here. hope everything works out for the 2 of u and u get here soon!!!
Guest51810 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Definitely a small world.. ive spoke to a few scots on here but theyve been from glasgow and edinburgh not 5mins away! So glad to hear your enjoying oz, are you in Oz? Even tho i moan about the rain here i think a bit of rain would def make me feel at home if i was over there  If you dont mind me asking, who did u work for on the excavators? you and my bf might know each other! we've been looking into drainer qualifications here, i cant really see any tho, my bf says you guys just sort of pick things up on the job training. Even if we managed to get him one we'd have to wait a few years to apply for a visa so he had the necessary work experience  I definitely agree with you regarding the sponsorship, We're going to a expo in july down at leeds, we saw they were advertising for digger drivers so hoping to learn a bit more bout sponsorship opportunities.
