My Last Christmas In England

Merry Christmas everyone. Where ever you are, who ever you are with I hope you are having a good day. Equally to those of you who aren't having the best of times, hang in there, its nearly over.

Its my last Christmas in England this year, and I am with my small but perfectly formed family. Its been rather emotional as it will be the last time I see everyone for a pretty long time, and certainly the last time we will all be together at Christmas. My family are really amazing and its hit me pretty hard today how much I will miss them.

Also, I want to pay a tribute to my gorgeous man, Steve. He's on the other side of the world and I am missing him more than ever today. I love you babe. Not long to go now.

You'll be fine Kat. Your family by the sounds of it have always been very supportive of your move.:wubclub:

But your right. At times like these it really brings home what 'people' mean to you. Life isn't worth living without those in your life that love and can be loved.:wubclub:

Steve will I have no doubt give you the love that we all need, and I am sure your family back in blighty will always be there for you, no matter if it is a telephone call/skype, or family visits.

Good luck with your new life Kat, I sincerely mean that. Go for it, love long, make your love last forever, and good on you.

Cheers Tony.:wubclub:

This is also our last Christmas in old blighty as we will be leaving march april time, nice to have a white christmas for our 2 year old daughter but a little shame some of the family that have still not come to terms with our departure could not make effort to spend some part of christmas with us if not for the sake of our daughter.

But looking forward to next christmas in the sun with a the barby cooked by dear hubby instead of me doing EVERY christmas dinner.......

Bring on the sun

And happy christmas to you all

Hey Swifty99. Sorry to hear that some of your family are acting that way. It must make it very difficult for you. Glad that your little one gets to have a white Christmas though. Roll on 2011 for all of us moving to Oz or returning to the UK or wherever!

Wow, bit scarey isn't it? we are off to Perth in July 2011. Visa's all validated and prices in for removals and air flights already, just hoping for an £ increase before July 11!!!!

Thanks Mikka711 :wubclub:. I am a fan of snow so long as I don't have to go far in it, but it has enhanced this Christmas for me and will be one to remember for lots of reasons. It is bitter-sweet, that's the perfect description. I feel full of excitement and sadness, but most of all anticipation at what is waiting around the corner for me in a few weeks time.

Best wishes to you too!

this was my possibly my last ever Christmas in England and sadly it was not a good one ... but maybe it will make leaving easier ...

Sorry to hear that. Hope that future Christmases are much happier for you. So many people don't have the 'perfect day' and there is so much pressure for it to be special, which I can imagine makes it all the harder for those who aren't having a good time.

Very scary! But great! Good luck with your move in July. Good feeling that this is the last UK winter eh! Fingers crossed for you and others with the exchange rate.

Well today was definitely our worst Christmas. Not content with keeping us in London. Fate decided that even though we booked the restaurant in October for today at 18:30. The restaurant decided to reschedule it's bookings and close by 17:30. Guess who they didn't bother telling. So a closed restaurant greeted us this evening as we arrived. Thankfully with us being in London. We went to Edgware Road to the Lebanese places for an unseasonal kebab. Personally I was content with just finding somewhere to eat on Christmas day. Though that contentment soon evaporated as soon as we pulled into our street later in the evening, and my girlfriend discovered her bag was missing. We went back to the place but her bag was gone. Along with her camera, my iPod, £150 in cash, £50 worth of makeup (it was special stuff or something ), £90 in gift vouchers, and all her receipts for her business.

So if your the muppet who runs the restaurant, or the w***** who took my girlfriends bag. Happy Christmas :santadance:

Hey Afro, that sucks. Not sure which bit is worse. I also had my new coat and purse stolen in Leeds a couple of weeks ago so know exactly how your girlfriend feels. Just can't believe how heartless some people are, and today of all days.

My only advice is get to the off licence, buy the nicest bottle of wine/whiskey/gin/beer they sell and have a few drinks mate (sure you already have done). Maybe you could try and do something extra nice tomorrow to cheer each other up.

Really feel for you both, especially your girlfriend.

P.S. I know what she's saying about 'special' makeup too .

To be honest we're fine. There's nothing that can't be replaced, and on the scale of things. It's more of an inconvenience than a tragedy. We were joking in the car coming home. Saying as we don't drink, maybe tonight is the night we should start.

Anyway, I've convinced myself today isn't Christmas day. That'll come on Monday when I'm back home in Scotland. Hope everyone else, your good self included, had a good Christmas. It's a mixed bag of emotions sometimes when you're away from home or about to leave. Gives a nice contrast to the important things in life.

Good attitude. There are worse things, you are right, but its still very annoying and sorting it all out takes ages (am still trying to get a replacement for my season ticket - worth nearly £4000!). Sure your time in Scotland will make up for it a bit and it'll feel more festive there!
