Hi all

This time tomorrow we will be on the plane on our way to oz for our new life. Its been a long three years and we have had some tears the last few days but generally we both have felt indiffent about the move, not excited, nervous, doubtful or sad. Cant explain it really. Its as if its meant to be. Lisa's parents are coming out with us for the first three months to see if they want to go for a CPV. We both have jobs to go to, Lisa has a nursing post at Nambour hospital and I start training as a Queensland police officer. We both start on the 31st January. The exchange rate is crap but we are not going for the money as we are going for a different (not better) life although we will be able to more outside so in that way it will be better. I will post more on here when we get there and are more settled.

Off to bed. Its been a long week!:swoon:

All the best to you John and Lisa, that journey has come fast, bon voyage. I was in the Nambour Hospital in May, was attended to by some Brit medical staff, so there seems to be a few there. Hope you enjoy the Sunny Coast, and it stops raining by then ! cheers Olly

Good luck mate, how did you get a post with the police force? did you do the medical and tests in the UK or did you have to go to Oz.

All the best to you lot, at the end of the day it's what you make it. We moved to Melbourne about 3 weeks ago, my husband already had a job, I'm not working yet, but there is no rush for me to get a job yet, but I have applied for a job with Victoria Police...see what happens

Everything is coming together nicely for us, we have found a house, got my daughter in a nursery, just got to get some wheels.

We are not missing England....or broken Britain as I like to call it!! I worked for the Forensic Science Service back in the UK and I can't believe they are closing the FSS down, seems crazy. I left at the right time.

Have a good christmas!

Thanks guys.

No, I had to do a diploma in Justice studies which I managed to do online last year and as soon as we had our visa I applied and then flew to Brisbane to do all the tests in one week in June. Heard last week that I would be starting at the end of January.

Good luck, what a day to fly!

I think you have best described how I felt; not nervous, not excited, doubtful or sad. I also felt I was going to something different and not better. I am really pleased I came with this mindset because so far everything has exceeded my expectations.

All the best for your new life downunder.

Best of luck John and Lisa, I think you must be here by now! Hope the flight was not too bad and you're managing to relax a little for Boxing Day. Good luck with the settling in period, take your time and try to chill...theres so much to organise but it all comes together eventually (though it doesnt always feel that way!) I hope you enjoy Australia:cute:

We have been here 9 weeks and felt exactly the same as you when we left. Even when we arrived we just got on with everything. I think it has worked out for the best being like that as so far we are not missing anything or anybody ( sounds horrible to say it but true) and it feels like we have been here a lot longer.
