Hi All,

To everyone who has done there WA SS application, should we go it alone or use our agent??

We just took a look at the form to attempt it ourselves but it looks scary!!

Also if we do go through the agent, how much information do you have to provide ie is it worth just doing it ourselves in the first place........

Plus how much information do they expect you to include in your answers??

Appreciate any advice at this stage...

My two cents. If you've managed to get a positive still assessment, there is no reason to hire an agent now. As for me, getting the assessment was much more difficult (laborious) then the WA SS form.

I've done all on my own and my situation is far from straightforward (Czech republic citizenship, living last 3 years in the UK, all education gained in the CR, most of the working experience as well... so you can imagine how much paperwork, travelling, certified translations etc. I had to put together...)

We have an agent but were encouraged to do our application ourselves.. I guess it's to show we are really committed and not being 'spoon fed' by the agent. The agent path is one you need to decide on, do your research first. We had an agent in 2004/5 in Oz needless to say I think we were given the wrong/inadequate advice! We are now using concept Australia in Manchester after recommendations on a forum. We pay a small fee at certain points in the process. So for example if your paperbased evidence is not strong enough you go no further and your not out of pocket!

Over the last 4 months I have spoken to our agent mainly for advice/reassurance they have been amazing... I'm sure they dread my calls and emails but they always have time.

Good luck with what you end up doing, but do your homework first

Hi Confused. The SS form is easy enough. Print it out, and fill the form in by hand first. Make up your mind what you want to say in your reasons for wanting to go etc. (make sure you have a good idea of what the monthly cost of living is as that is one of the questions they ask). Then just make your application online. Really, if you just take one question at a time it is quite simple.

Hi Guys, im a general plumber and tonight i have just submitted the WA SS on my own.

the only sticky point i found was of the ielts, you have to put a date in,BUT if you are a trade or Techinician which we are (TRADIES) you do not need to do a Ietls test as we get 6 points having a UK passport...

BUT the application does not allow this, so tonight i put a date in for DEC 10, and have uploaded my passport BIO page as that is what the WA Gov site explains is required..

If you did your Vetassess by yourseleves then this is no problems.... If im wrong then all i will have done is got one form wrong, no probs just another $200.00, at least i wont be paying a migration agent $1000.00 to do what has taken 1 hour... Stay in touch..

Cheers Nick the Plumber:jimlad:
