Tax File Number Application

I was just wondering whether anyone has gone through the process of apply for a TFN from overseas.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi you are supposed to wait until you are here to apply for a tax file number, im not sure if they check when you type in your passport number.

You need to wait until you get here. I arrived a few days before my husband, so I applied for mine on line, but when I tried to apply for his, once I entered his passport (or was it visa) number I had a message saying that as he was not in the country he could not apply. So yes it does check where you are based on passport / visa number.
