grahammanchester Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Hi I am applying for an 856 visa - Employer part has been okayed by immi - now have 6/12 to put my part in. What do i need to do for the skills assessment? Both my wife & I are registered nurses - we have worked in Oz for the past 3 years. Do I need to do some sort of test or do I just contact APHRA for a letter etc? Also, we have not left Oz since we came here on a 457 visa in Nov 2007 - do we still need to get a police check from the uk? Hope someone can help.
sharon69 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Hi Graham, go to the ANMC website, you have to apply to them for your skills assessment, no testing required just a paper gathering exercise. good luck. Sharon
grahammanchester Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks, have to do the modified one - can't believe the amount of money just to get a letter!! Oh well, have to go through the hoops to attain the goal
wrussell Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I suggest you check the facts with a registered migration agent.
sharon69 Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 wrussel, I'm sure you would suggest we all speak to a migration agent. Surely this is exactly what this forum is for, finding out from fellow PIO's how they dealt with issues. I did the modified skills assessment as I was registered with QLD, it is a simple process, collecting documents and having them certified, it does cost a lot of money, on top of our registration. So long as you're able to complete the online application you really shouldn't need to spend more money on an agent . Merry Christmas everyone. Sharon

Who suggested spending money? You did. Was a skills assessment necessary?
