where do you have this information from?

most of us have applied, those on the interim list have, and many like myself have received sponsorship. But when lodging the main 176 visa application you are only Cat 3 until the SMP is released.

Some individulas trade/skills are not on the interim list so are having to wait for the SMP release before they can apply for State Sponsorship.

Ok many thanks so if nurses are on the SMP we will move into the relevant category?? It was strange as we were originally planning WA and there webite has been closed for 6 months not even to look at for the skilled sponsorship part and didnt go live for over a week when the SMP finally came out. Therefore we didnt look about applying as thought SA would be the same reading posts on here.

Hope i have made sense, many thanks for the info.

Not sure if you saw my post yesterday, but in case you didnt, come and join us on the WE ARE STILL WAITING thread here. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migrat...ng-sa-smp.html

We were the same, WA was our first choice (nothing really other than it is the place we knew more about and have really good friends there) but got fed up with waiting and heard about the SA interim list so decided to go that way. Glad we did as my trade was removed off the WA SMP. To be honest, i would sweep the roads, or clean the public loos in any state if it got me down under and out of here.

I dont look much about the medical profession as it am not one, but i am very suprised nurse is not on the WA SMP, i thought everyone needed nurses down under.

Is your nurse skill on the interim list?

right, so if it is, you can apply, once you received sponsorship you can then lodge the 176 visa application with DIAC. But it will remain in Cat 3. However, if then the SMP is released and your skill is on their SMP (even if they have reached this years limit so not accepting any more, but you got in before this cut off) then your visa application will jump to cat 2. i dont know if they do it automatically, or you have to inform someone.

Please understand i am no expert, i can only go on what i know or what i read off the internet, so if all the above is wrong then i am sorry, but it is the theory i and several others are working to.

I have asked this somewhere else and have yet to receive an answer. If I am on the SA interim list and apply for SS, can I just pack up and leave after living the required two years in SA? We really wanna go to Perth, but I don't have the 7 years experience uuurrrgggg!

If you're granted a 176 visa it's a permanent resident visa and you are free to live in Australia.

Your moral obligation to SA asks you to reside in their State for 2 years, of course they are hoping if you have settled after these 2 years you will continue to stay and add to the economy etc.

However you will be free to reside where ever you wish should you decide to move on to WA after.

Good luck.
