shazney64 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 We need a furnished rental in any of these areas, we arrive 31st March 2011. Struggling to find one. It has to be these areas for the catchment of Woodvale high school. My son knows someone who attends there so would be easier when we arrive. Hard to look now over the christmas period due to closures etc. Going to be even harder after Christmas as my baby is due 18th Jan!!!! Any help really appreciated. Sharon xx
Guest guest17301 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Hi Sharon, you'll be hard pressed to come by a furnished in these areas but I'll keep my eye open for you. My daughter goes to Woodvale, good proprties in the area are few and far between and get snapped up quickly. What you looking for 3 or 4 bed? Usually you cant rent till you actually arrive, have you got a holiday rental sorted for the first few weeks?
mickjthom Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Hi Sharon, I also in Woodvale. We never saw any furnished rentals in Woodvale at all and we looked for a month back in August. Its all unfurnished here from what I can see. There were some furnished apartments in Joondalup, but thats all we saw. Good luck. I'll keep an eye out too. Presume you've checked www.realestate.com.au? Mick

Will look at the holiday rental but they seem very expensive? Thanks for your replies xxx
SharonandMark Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi Sharon We are moving to Perth 26 Feb - we are also looking at the woodvale area due to the reputation of the schools. We are lucky as we are staying with my sister in Mullaloo until we get sorted, but we would like a long term in Woodvale - there isnt much about though! Good luck with your search Sharon x
Guest Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Have you been looking on Stayz? Try this one.... Woodvale Lodge - Hillarys - Perth, WA I'm afraid that is the sort of price you will pay for a holiday rental and there will not be that many in those areas. They are firmly in the mortgage belt, ie nice family suburbs so not really catering for tourists. For the same reason you will find it almost impossible to get furnished accomodation for lease. I'd seriously reconsider shipping most people underestimate the replacement value of their belongings and bear in mind you will probably be spending money earnt in £ so Australia is expensive at the current exchange rate. It's not just the furniture it's all the little things that really add up - that fish slice that was 99p in Tesco will have to be replaced and will probably be $5 in Kmart. It is truely shocking how much setting up a home from scratch costs! Another option for the short term is a caravan park, this is a possibility Cherokee Village Mobile Home & Tourist Park (Kingsley, Perth & Surrounds, Western Australia) - Caravan Parkfinder AU Whether it'd be cheaper I don't know, we're off to stay in a two bed lodge at a caravan park tomorrow and it's cost almost $1400 for a week! It is peak season of course, Hope you get sorted, I remember losing lots of sleep over the school/accomodation issue, maybe we were lucky but it fell into place very quickly for us once we were here jules

Good luck with your search Sharon x I don't know about the schools in this area specifically but you may find you can't enrol until you have an address in the catchment area. Duncraig primary wouldn't even let us organise a visit! May be worth contacting the schools to find out? We ended up going for a private school so we could enrol our DS straight away and take our time finding the right place to live. It's saved us a fortune as housing in the catchment area of good schools is so much more expensive. Jules x

Mullaloo will be covered by Ocean Reef SHS.

Guest guest17301 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 You will need to live in the catchment area...Woodvale is very nice. The thing to do is find a holiday rental for the first say 4 weeks to give you tiome to look around and go to viewings etc, doesn't matter what area as the kids won't be able to start school till you can show a long term tenancy agreement anyway. I think the Aussiemove site has the best and most reasonable selection of holiday rentals out and don't forget there are usually no bills to pay during this time so the price of the rental may see high but its all in.
shazney64 Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 Yes we wanted my son to attend Woodvale as his friend is there. We need to be in the cacthment area, but as my son will be going into year 10 we cant afford to be moving schools until secure a mortgage. I am starting to belive though that these areas are pretty much for the settled buying type, wich i dont mind but you want to see first. We are shipping our stuff over, so that is why we thought of furnished as we wont have anything with us. We cant really ship now ahead because my baby is due in two weeks just to add to the pressure lol. There have been some good suggesions i will follow up thanks guys. catch up soon sharon xx
