Visa Granted, what do we do next?

Hi all

We received an email to say our visa was granted today but does anyone know what we do next? From reading the paperwork I am assuming we can enter Oz with the visa Granted number only and we don't have to have an actual paper copy put into the passport.

Any help would be good.

Thanks

You don't have to get the visa label in your passport, but most of us do for good reason. It comes in handy when you move to Australia for all sorts of things. I recommend you do, it takes no time.

:biglaugh: Book yer flights :biglaugh: Congratulations :cute:

We got our visas "evidenced" (put into our passports) at Australia House, we went there and got it done, but you can post the passports. You don't have to get it though before arrival, but as far as I have been told medicare etc ask to see it and so you will end up having to go and get the visas put in when in Australia anyway.

After that you just have to at least validate your visa by passing through immigration before the date stated on your letter.

Congratulations on your visa. You can send the letter with your passports to Australia House. We did that and got them back within 5 days and as itsmylife said you have 1 year to validate your visa in Australia.

So get your passports done, sell up if you have a house to sell and pack up stuff to ship and get out here in this lovely rainy wet season weather.

Where are you going to be settling?

congratulations.... no you don't HAVE to have a label in your passport...but you will probably find it useful to have it, for when you arrive and are job hunting etc, easier to show your passport with a label in it that carry the letter round with you.

Send it to Australia House and you'll get it back quickly (ours took about 3 working days)

Then get your flights booked!!!

Hi all

Many thanks for all of your advice. I will send our passports to Australia House as getting a copy in there makes allot of sense.

Thanks again.

No, you can just turn up. The opening hours are 9am - 11am, you have to go through a security area, then take a ticket and wait your turn. When we went we only waited about 15 minutes, but I guess depending on who is in front of you it may take longer.

Thanks for that, what time did you get there? I noticed there is only a small window, nice working hours! was hoping to get there 10:30ish so not to have to leave on an early, peak (packed, expensive) train. Would that be too late?
