Boesman Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Hi, if we apply for state sponsorship for one state and wants to live in another, I believe that we have to stay in that state for two years. What happens after the two years? Do you have to apply to move or proof you lived that first two years in that particular state or can you just pack up and go? Basically, what happens on paper? Hope I make sense? Boesman
Ezy Going Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I am also interested to know what happens after 2 years? and how does it happen? do we need to inform some one that we are leaving or is it understood?
ali Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I've heard some say that's it's a moral obligation only to stay in the state, however I've also heard that immigration send you something to fill in every now and again. Perhaps someone who has come out on SS will post.
Guest guest33730 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 With SS the 'moral obligation' is to stay in the state that sponsored you for the two years - after that time you are free to settle where you like without any further recourse (either moral or legal) I have not heard any reports of any one being contacted by immigration during their initial two year period unless someone has reported them for breaches of their visa conditions. As far as I know - immigration don't even know where I live (although I'm sure big brother is watching me somehow) :wideeyed: Daniel
KarlPullin1980 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Am i correct in thinking that if the state sponsors you then you do not have to apply for pr as you would on a 457 visa
musmanasghar Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Please check below, found it ACT SMP Guidelines "MONITORING PROGRAM ACT Government nominated migrants have been nominated to live and work in Canberra for a minimum period of two years from first arrival. After your ACT nominated visa has been granted, you are required to: Contact the SBM Unit and confirm your expected date of arrival in Canberra and whether you would like to take advantage of the free Canberra Settlement support. Contact the SBM Unit within one month of your first arrival in Canberra and confirm your contact details. Complete settlement surveys at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after arrival. Inform the SBM Unit of any change to your contact details in Canberra for two years after arrival in order to receive the settlement surveys." http://www.business.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/208280/176_Visa_Nomination_Guidelines_Nov_10.pdf
Boesman Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 I am almost sure if you got a 176 visa then you don't have to apply for PR...
