Hi Everyone. I'm an aussie girl. My fiance lives in Yorkshire & lodged a 'prospective marriage visa' 1st November 2010 - couriered off to London. I've been scanning through this website & can't find anyone with similar experiences. I guess what i'm dying to know is the million dollar question...HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE!?. Any stories of similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Gwyndra, Echuca VIC

I should add that we've had photos returned & the visa application money has been processed...but thats all we've heard.

Hi Gwyndra, welcome to PIO! Partner Visas seem to be being processed in 5-6 months at the moment. I gather DIAC are quick to take the money and then you might not hear from them at all until the Visa is issued. There is a thread on Offshore Partner Applications, if you post on that thread you will find a bunch of people patiently counting down the days.

Best of luck!

I would suggest that your fiance gives his Case Officer at Australia House a call and ask. They don't bite! Your fiance should also have received at least an email acknowledging receipt of the application and to tell him a few basics, such as anticipated timescales. I believe they are approx 5-6 months at present but AH will be able to confirm.

Thankyou Bridie, I'll definitely have a look at that thread. There's some comfort in knowing we're not alone in this painful waiting game.

And thank you too TheOptimist. I grew up in Melbourne...You've chosen a beautiful city to head off to. We have not heard anything about a Case Officer, or received any email at this point..but we're thinking that if there's no news til 2nd week in Jan, a call to their office is definitely in order.

Thanks again to you both for replying. I really appreciate you taking the time. Gwyndra.
