Well I manage to run a small business and study full time but when it comes to Christmas I am what only can be termed as fluking hopeless!

I bought my Christmas cards today! I am now frantically writing them out in the hope that I remember to post them tomorrow and that they receive them in time :wideeyed:

Christmas decorations? Well the tree is up and has been for a week but not a piggin bauble or bit of tinsel in sight!

Christmas Presents  Ive managed to get two so far but only because a friend had pre-ordered them for me as they are for her little ones!

Absolutely nothing in the fridge! Luckily my lovely mother cooks on Xmas day and then it looks like we are scavenging around the rest of the family on the other days.

Oh dear . . . . . . . .

How organised are you? Because you certainly cant be any worse then me :biglaugh:

Well, I've got a facial tick that I never had before, Ruth is on the Baileys as if it is going out of fashion, and the kids have eaten the vast majority of Christmas food already, no matter where I hid it.:biglaugh:

So I think we are there at last.:biglaugh:

You have my sympathies Gill, head down, plough on, and it will be over before you can say, 'If I hear Slade One More Time On The Radio I Am Going To Track Nobby Bloody Holder Down And Shove This Fairy Up His Backside'.

Good luck Gill, alcohol often helps in these troubled times.:goofy:

Cheers Tony.

I am totally hopeless but maybe its because my wife does it all !!! :biglaugh:

She buys ALL the presents a month before (uses my credit card! :twitcy:) , the Christmas tree and all decorations are up 3 weeks before and the cards are all sent 2 weeks before too!.

I just watch

Cheers

A few more pressies to buy tomorrow.... then its list mania here!

There is a list of food shopping, then a second one for things I need to buy on Crimbo Eve

There is a list of when I am making things, a list for Christmas Eve and one for the day itself (almost to the minute for the day!!), no list for Boxing Day.

I have started the list of things to do before we move.....

So no I am no organised!!!

There must be a bottle of Egg Nog :eek: hidden somewhere Gill. You know, auntie Doris from many years ago insisted she loved the stuff, then years later you find it congealed, festering, behind the sofa. :arghh:

Cheers Tony.

Make your own Gill.

Potato peelings, a few drops of vinegar, lemon juice, a couple of bread crusts, ferment for three or four days and your away. This was tip I got off a con when I was a prison officer.

OK, so he was in the hospital wing with first degree burns to his tongue, and his sight was severely impaired for months to come, but by God, it got him through the Christmas period.

Cheers Tony.

Tbh i think people flap about it a bit too much really, altho i suppose it DOES depend on how many kids you have to buy for in fairness, and if you have dozens of family to buy for,we just buy for close family so its pretty easy for us.

Jans been picking me 2 youngest nephews(5+7) bits of tat up for a week or so,and i went to debenhams the weekend and got them two designer cardies, yes its GOT to be designer at 5+7!:mad:they KNOW if it isnt!,me eldest nephews 17 so awkward to buy for,so few bob in an envolope.

I also picked me arl fellah one of those big fleece/furry lined cardies up,bro+sil will get a cpl of bottles, just gotta get jans this week, the rest of the family arent that close so thats it,sorted,so basically got the presents bought in one day,but as i say,not that many prezzies to buy compared to some.

Tree etc?she wanted a real one this year so i got one off the farm a cpl of weeks back and baubled it up meself, easy when yer in and out of work because i have the time, lmao! others wont.

Food/dinner etc,we get away with it because its easier on account of the kids if we all go to my bro's,so cerri cooks/dishes up,but we'l be doing the beef here and taking it up,while she does the lamb and turkey,we get a bit more meat/joints in than normal, thats all, because were big meat eaters anyway and allways have a lot in,i dont get caught up in buying enuf food for a nuclear holocaust anymore, and the shops are open boxing day anyway:daydreaming:

I look on crimbo as one day, when its over thats it,boxing day is what i look forward to with all the footy,we'l have me mate up to ours on boxing day for a roast that either me or jan will do(probably jan because me mates up tbh)as he's on his jack/doesnt bother with family, and thats it really, and so another year starts.......................

Had a mental block on how to spell envelope there, how wierds that!

What is it with people shopping like its their last ever chance?

Does their money lose its value by Boxing Day?

Has the four minute warning been announced?

And seriously half of the food will be off before its gets chance to be eaten.

And why oh why oh why - do we have to eat sprouts at Christmas???? :goofy:

The queues just to get in the supermarket car park earlier were enough to send me loopy :goofy:

I only wanted bread and milk :biglaugh:

I sat in my fayv armchair slurping wine and did all my crimbo shopping in one afternoon on my laptop, even the paper, tags and cards were delivered plus some gift vouchers (good ole m and s) I then did my cards and wrapped pressies on another afternoon whilst slurping more wine.....crimbo sorted apart from I appear to have run out of wine...lol

yes he does i found that intresting , as i would have thought he would find it the opposite , just goes to show its what your brought up with

same as xmas i suppose if your brought up in the heat and your used to a hot xmas [ ive never gotten used to a hot xmas its the only time i miss the uk ] then that is what is familiar and seems normal to you .

he made me laugh when he said ever one washes up in buckets over here ,, i said buckets ? he said yes they put these buckets in the sink to wash up with and they have a perfectly good sink no leaks etc cant under stand it ,,,, i realised he meant bowls , which i dont use but i remember my mom using one why put a bowl in a sink why do you need it ? so i guess there are a lot of things that he would find strange over there

Yeah,no worries, just found it suprising thats all,im not someone who is in the pro/anti camps when it comes to uk/oz,each to their own,but being honest i dont think aussie pubs are a patch on uk pubs(from the few ive been, admittedly),btw i DO hope im proven wrong, but doubt it,its probs down to familiarity as you say.
