Morning All.

Tis the time of year again folks where happy, miserable, selfish, moronic, cheerful, unselfish, etc, types of people forget all their troubles and think about the common man, yeah right it is, :goofy::goofy::mad:.

Anyway, besides my own particular skew on Christmas, are you of a 'Flash Bomb' mentality kind of person, or a 'Subtle and Discreet' type of person.

Christmas decos' love em or hate em they are here to stay. So with that said do you go for the 'Shock and Awe' kind of tactics where your local electricity plant is drained of its power and your neighbors get 'light blindness' when they look at your house. Do people come from miles around to see the wonderment before them, and then go home and realise that you must be deficient in some way because you have to make up for your inadequencies by once a year making your house look like Santas 'Schizophrenic' half bothers house.

Or are you of the 'subtle' variety, where 'taste and 'decorum' are apparently your watch words. A bit of tinsel here, a bit of tinsel there, but all in all, your house resembles a very small grotto that even an elf would be ashamed of.

I admit that if I had the money I would festoon not only my house but the whole neighborhood with every conceivable decoration. We would be able to be seen from outer space, my house would indeed melt under the combined wattage of the decos.

So which do you prefer, 'Full On, or 'Subtle'.

Cheers Tony.

Subtle and tasteful I think but we have a great big real tree in the formal lounge (done out in blue and silver) and some strategically placed lights both inside and out, multicouloured on my back patio and clear and blue ones on my tree. A small fibre optic tree in my family room.

I do like to see the fully decked out homes though but draw the line at the tacky santa stop here signs and plastic inflatables....sorry if I offend anyone just my own personal tastes! Christmas is for fun though and whatever floats your boat is the rule of thumb!

having lived my life in a family home where there was always a Silver decorations only tree :dull: and very little evidence on the outside of the house that we even celebrate christmas i think once i get my own place it'll be festive-tastic!

I love fairy lights (i'd have them up all year!) and can't wait to have a tree festooned with all things merry and bright! :D

i draw the line at covering the entire house but a nice few strings of lights on the front and a twinkling tree in the window would keep me happy!

My tree is every colour under the sun!!! Then there are other decorations placed around the room! Not subtle but not full on in your face tat!

Hi Tony

Back in the UK, quite enjoyed the odd decoration or two ! Santa on roof, animated display type decs in all windows, fairy lights everywhere, giant inflatable scooby (below)

Not quite the same once we moved to Melbourne as you don't really get the benefit of the lights seen as it's nearly time for bed by the time if goes dark!

Now we've moved to Cairns (darker sooner), could be tempted to illuminate the house again, especially as we're on a hill in a dark valley, you'd see the house lit up from the valley entrance about 7km away:yes::laugh:

Knowing our luck though, we'd spend ages decorating the outside and they'd get whisked away in a cyclone!

So for now, it's more subtle, - Tree(s), tinsel and some of the village type decs.

LOVE christmas decorations! But I think I am more in favor of subtle and traditional. We have a tree with white lights and wooden decorations and some home made gingerbread decorations, and one of those garlands on the fireplace with twinkly lights on, and the mandatory stripy socks hanging by the fire :cute:
