Guest Bianca de V Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Sorry I know you get lots of these posts.... I have babies and a preschool boy - we're looking for an area with good schools, lots of activities - parks, swimming pools, gyms, library, bikram yoga studio, mother and baby yoga, football / swimming / martial arts classes for a preschooler boy, cycle paths to the beach?, near to public transport, rent not too expensive ad walking distance to some shops - this is my ideal!
starlight7 Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Any suburbs near Melbourne would have all this. Probably you would look first at the Eastern suburbs - a lot depends on your financial situation as to where you live because prices vary enormously.
Petals Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 I guess it depends on where you will be working. Melbourne covers such a vast area that you can have a very long commute if the area you like is not fairly close to where you work. Have a look at the thread on Western Suburbs and also read through the threads in the Victorian Suburb forum. There is a lot of information there already which may assist you. As for your activities I would have a google and see what is around and where they are. If you want a fairly cheap rent that will rule out a lot of areas around the city for you unless you want to live in a shoe box flat. You may find you need to live about an hour from the CBD to get a more reasonable rental. Have a look at the Metlink site this will give you public transport informaiton. Train is the best option for travel in my opinion as the buses and trams get snarled up in traffic jams.
