Guest lostitall Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 hi there everybody!! i guess im the most unfortunate one among this forum members.. i lodged my 885 in march 2009 after completing my studies in information technology.. i cleared my IELTS( 7 IN EACH) and hence applied straightaway for 885 on my own.. i did not apply for 485 at all.. At the time of application i was still awaiting my ACS skill assessments..That time it wasnt necessary that one shud have the skills assessments and all the supporting documents at the time of application.. hence i nominated a wrong occupation, the biggest mistake one cud ever make.. I nominated information technology manager instead of computing prof nec.. now i heard computing prof- nec is goin to be bumped up to priority 3.. and i feel i wud be still stuck in priority 4. i have a great fear that my application is going to be considered invalid.. i am plannin to submit form 1023 asap.. i am not sure if that wud help.. if my application is goin to get rejected, will i have any options to apply for any other visa? its been 2 years since i passed out, but i still cudnt get a job in my field.. im still doing the job which i had when i was a student.. so there is no chance for a employer sponsered visa.. somebody please help me out..any of the migration agents in this forum or anyone who came across this similar situation, ur valuable answers wud be very much appreciated.. im in a serious dilemma.. thanks in advance.. dianne
Guest lostitall Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 is there anyone who cud help me?? plzzz
Guest TheStig Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I think you answered your question yourself. DIAC has explicitly said that the review of skills assessment is ONLY for those who nominated their nomination as 2231–79 Computing prof (NEC) as this is a generic group. One thing to bear in mind is that not all applications in this group are automatically bumped into Cat 3. They will need to submit for review by ACS and only those who qualify for an occupation on the SOL will be bumped. Having said that, there is still some degree of confusion of the review process as the review is only valid for thos who had applied for assessment by ACS 60 days prior to the new ANZSCO being released. It is clear from you case that you nominated a specific occupation on the then SOL and put in your GSM application with that occupation. DIAC has been very firm in that one is NOT able to change their nominated occupation once lodged. If this is the case, then all other applicants who had nominated an IT occupation which is now not on the SOL would start to apply for 'reviews'. As you said ENS is out but you may consider State Sponsorship most states have got IT occupations on their list. That will then bump you up to Cat 2 and get processed even faster (bearing in mind Cat 3 will ONLY be processed one all Cat 1 & 2 applications have been processed). Last option would be to lodge a new application if you are able to get an occupation on the SOL.

User Name Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Get reassessed (cost $375) with ORIGINAL DOCS that is the exact same documents you used for your ACS assessment way back. Do not add any work experience or extra studies if you done any. Forward your new assessment to Brisbane (if your visa was e-lodged) or Adelaide (if its paper). You'll get bumped up and hopefully a CO quickly as you are from March 2009 and DIAC is up to November 2009 with priority 3 applications. It is very very important that you don't go for Review of PASA. You are not eligible for it. Its a brand new assessment nominating an ANZSCO occupation in new SOL WITH ORIGINAL DOCS that you need.

I don't see why you can't apply for a SS. As long as your occupation (Information Technology Manager) is on the SS list, you can apply. Every state has got a quota for each occupation to it really depends on whether you get the sponsorship as having an occupation on the list doesn't automatically qualify you for SS. The 6 month rule is from DIAC to ensure you apply for a GSM visa by, which you already have. I would not recommend you to get a reassessment with ACS as your nominated occupation is on the ANSCO to ANZSCO co-relation list as released by DIAC so its not going to help you much as you cannot change your occupation (As said before DIAC does NOT allow anyone to change a nominated occupation unless submitting a new GSM application). Good Luck.

Good Luck. Thank u so much for ur time and patience to reply to my problem.. Evn though i nominated wrong occupation, my ACS assessment is still computing prof(ICT RECENT GRADUATE).. So i wont be able to provide any supporting document for SS.. I found out frm ACS that information technology manager is a senior person who has to have 5 years exp.. I stuffed up everyhin just with one mistake..

Better to spend 100 bucks to see if you can salvage your existing application than going for new app.
