docboat Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 There are always queries about stopovers in Singapore, and how to spend the time in Changi airport. This link is from theBBC website. It may have been posted before, but if not, travellers will find it very informative. Bottom line - stop over in Singapore! BBC - Travel - Changi: The airport of your dreams : Singapore

docboat Posted December 18, 2010 Author Posted December 18, 2010 Lucky you ! I was there in November, and the thing is, normally you want to get your connecting flight quickly - but in Singapore you are hoping for a 12 hour delay to enjoy tha airport .... or longer, and take a trip to the hawker food stalls, or any one of a number of excellent holiday activities
Guest The Pom Queen Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I just love Changi airport and the transit hotel with pool.

Volcanic dust wouldnt hit me hard with a weeks stop over there. Susie x
Quinkla Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Five hours is long enough to take the MRT into town and go to a hawker market (try Little India for the Tekka Centre). Even better, stop for a couple of days and look around. Singapore has more than shops - there are the cable cars up the mountains; Sentosa Island; food galore; ethnic communities and boats across to Batam Island.
CharmedP3 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 We have a 6½ hour stop at Changi in January on our way to Perth..... there seriously does look like there's so much to do, we don't know where to start haha!! A swim, shower and change of clothes sounds good for starters lol

It just breaks up the journey, gives you fresh air and a more memorable experience than looking at an airport. Berhati-hati ruang di platform!
