Guest brummie
Arrgh!!! I applied online for a SIR-visa yesterday, and today I found out that my occupation is included in the new MODL list (Migration Occupations in Demand)! All of a sudden I've gained 15 points and could go straight for the 136 permanent visa. Does anyone know if it's possible to withdraw an application that has already been lodged? Obviously I'd much rather go for the permanent visa if it's possible! Or is it too late? Advice desperately needed! Cheers, -Brummie
Guest celso.bolina
It happened with me too. When I applied to DIAC, my profession wasn't in the MODL list yet now it is. But, in my case, I has applied for 136, therefore, what I would like to know is if my process will take less time to be ready as MODL is quicker. +Celso
Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Brummie You can withdraw your application for a SIR visa at any time, but DIAC might not be willing to refund the not refund the fee you have paid. Has your card been debited yet? If not, you may be able to get the Bank or card company to stop the payment to DIAC. If you cannot stop the payment and DIAC won't agree to refunnd the fee for the SIR visa. you will need to decide whether it is worth a second fee in order to go straight for the 136 visa instead Hope this helps Gill
Guest brummie
Hi Gill, Thanks for the advice, although you're telling me something I don't want to hear...the money has already gone to DIAC so my only hope now is that they will be flexible. It would be VERY painful to pay another $2060, but the advantages of a 136 visa over a 495 visa are enormous. I'll call DIAC as soon as they open tomorrow.
