I know there's talks going on, as soon as I know something I'll put a post up. Good night from Sydney, Thanks Kim. I have had an offer of sponsor from a guy in Alice Springs to drive his car transporter but my OH isn't having it. She says it's too out the way and in the desert. If i don't get to the sunshine coast then she's talking about going to Canada.. It was nice of steve to get in touch and ask me. I would also like peoples opinion of Alice Springs, so i have put a thread on the migration forum. Thanks again Kim. Herbster
Hi Kim: I don't know how you have time to keep PIO so up-to-date with EVERYTHING migration-orientated. We really do appreciate it. OH submitted Visa Application at the end of May (w/Agent) TRA is the dreaded Electronic Instrument Tech(although specialized military experience) - does this mean he's too late & his points won't count??? We're still awaiting CO, although they took the $$ in June! He's more interested in project coordination anyway, than pure Trade, but could this be bad news for EI Techs who've already submitted Visa Apps?? Thank you, very much for your advice, Herbster - :notworthy: (A cool country bear who likes a quiet life near the surf, but can't decide between rural/coastal Tassie or if such exists in SA or S Victoria?!) Any suggestions??!
Guest Oscar 202
Kim, Can you advise the best option for my 20 year old son to join us when we go to Oz. We going on an e457 but had 2 different pieces of advice. Company say he can apply and come on working visa then when we apply for permanent he can stay apply through us & that way, however immigration say he can only apply on his own rights. He is currently working as a croupier (gaming dealer) but cant get job in casino as TR

Just heard the modl list has changed and my trade is in demand. Is there any way I can get the permanent visa + go anywhere in aus. I would appreciate your response. Alan Collett
For an offshore general skilled visa application you have to be under 45 on the date the visa application is lodged with the Department of Immigration - so all is well for you in that regard. Best wishes.

Guest Kim Hunter
Hi TR, As your son is probably no longer 'dependent' on you ie he's working, he won't be able to be a secondary application on your 457. Alan is correct, he'll have to apply on his own behalf. Suggest he comes out on a working holiday visa, 417, he'll no doubt hook up with an Aussie chick as sometimes happens and then he can apply for a spouse visa after he satisfies the relationship requiement (as well as other requirements of course). Otherwise, he needs to chose a skill that will maximise his points for general skilled migration and either study over here or in UK and obtain the appropriate qualification and work experience if necessary for points. Cheers, Kim
Guest Kim Hunter
Hi Chris, Yes government can still refuse your application, but you just snuck in with the age ... good work. What visa did you apply for? Kim
Guest Oscar 202
Thanks for the much needed reassurance Alan & Kim. I think the one you advice Alan (close realtive visa) is what our agent advises, but one more question please - can this be applied for if he out of UK i.e. out visiting us in Australia on a holiday visa or working visa??? sorry for barrage of Q's but I could not bear the thought of our son being seperated from us indefinately

Alan Collett
Yes, there is an onshore version of the Remaining Relative visa. Note that to be able to sponsor him (whether for an offshore or onshore version of the visa) you will need to be a "settled" sponsor, which usually means you must have lived lawfully in Australia for at least 2 years, and be a permanent residency visaholder (or Aussie citizen, or "eligible NZ citizen") before you can sponsor such an application: Remaining Relative Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 115) There must also be an Assurer in place, who has the required level of assessable income in Australia for the last two income tax years (as at the time when the Assurer is requested to attend an interview with Centrelink): Remaining Relative Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 115) Best regards.
