New and Getting Nervous

Hi all,

My husband and I have been applying for a permanent migration visa. We completed his work assessment at the end of last year and posted our visa forms in March. We decided to leave the police and medical checks until they were requested as we will need to sort out selling our house before we go. Our agent told us to expect a response from DIMA about November time, but we have had a response already  and I'm suddenly starting to get nervous. (Does anyone know what sort of things they might fail you on in the medical, by the way? I'm paranoid something will come up to stop us going)

Hi Cara

Well done you in getting your acknowledgement so early. :notworthy:

No idea on the meds front, but someone here will know. Although, reading some of the old posts, meds don't seem to be too much of a problem, but don't quote me.

Don't get nervous - get EXCITED!!!!!!

Hi maxxangel

You will have no problems with your medicals. All I can say when we had ours done it was the quickiest £1000 for 5 us I parted with. We went expecting to be in for quite sometime. After 10mins meds done and 10 mins for xrays and that was it. On my medical form I had quite a list of previous operations and still under the care of the hospital but it was not a problem.

Thank you for all the reassurances. Glad to hear it's not a drawn out process. £1000 though! My agent said about £600. Mind you, there are only 4 of us.

We paid £535 for 4 of us, it pays to shop around.

Like you I was really stressed about it, had them last Tuesday and it really was nothing to worry about, like others say unless you've already got something wrong with you chances are yuo'll be fine.

We sent our app. off end of March, where exactly are you up to? We're waiting for a CO at the mo.

Unfortunately, we only have one place reasonably close to us who is athorised to do the medicals. So I guess we will just have to pay what they charge.

We sent our application off about the same time as you. Although it may have been early April before the agent actually got round to sending on to Oz. We just heard back last week that all is in order and they have requested police and medical checks. I don't know how long it will be once they are in.

What is CO, by the way?
