I have enough points to apply for a 175. Thats the plan now. I know it will again take forever to actually get a CO.....

Will you wait for the revised SOL or apply straightaway? It should be out by the beginning of June (ideally). I mean, it would be pretty tough if you apply now and your occupation then gets kicked off the list in July. This is what happened to me. Applied in the beginning of May 2010 and was then kicked in the behind in July ...

exodus,

sorry to hear about your rejection..

175 is not a bad idea as they have reached processing august 2010. The only risk is a very minor chance of DIAC changing the current SOL.

In all good scenario, you should be getting a CO in 4-5 months if you apply now...

My occupation is Developer programmer. Now if there is a chance that the occupation maybe rolled off the new SOL, then i do have a problem. I hope its otherwise. If i dont apply now and if there are any changes rolled out by DIAC that impact my situation i am doomed again. What a position to be in. this sucks

Exodus,

Sorry for the rejection.

I'd say the chances of Developer Programmer not being on new SOL are really meagre.

The chances of DIAC coming up with a higher processing priority for those applying under the new points system are really high.

It's a catch-22 situation for you, anyway. Didn't intend to confuse you further, it's just my opinion, though.

Good luck!

I think it might hit Systems- and Business-Analysts. Loads of ICT-recent graduates picked this occupation for their reassessments. Accountants may also be kicked. But this is just my assumption and not based on any official documents. It could also be that none of the occupations is taken off the list if the list is amended at all. No matter what, good luck for your application exodus.

P.S. armandra ... they're getting closer to your application. Fingers crossed !

I thought having 175 is far more better than having nothing with new point system !. Sorry for the rejection mate . Please bear in mind that DIAC still promising to process CAT4 peeps as well, So CAT3 should be fine:hug::hug:

Do you think there will be a revised SOL in June? I thought the one they released with ANZSCO will be the SOL that will be used for the new points system. Am I missing an announcement from DIAC?

Add/Remove option comes with all DIAC systems :spinny:

Turn me brown:( I got most expected response from Victoria,

"there is not sufficiently high demand for your skills and experience to offer sponsorship at this time."

2231-79(CISSP & Network Security Specialist)

IELTS: 7.0

Applied: Already applied in May, 2010 Under 176

Already have SS of WA (But unfortunately my occupation isn't in current SMP of WA therefore currently my occupation is in CAT 4) That's why i applied for Vic but they replied, "we 'll not help you to come out of this mud"

Wish you guys best of luck.

Regards,

Sorry to hear the bad news triumph. Sooner or later you'll do it mate. Just keep going. Fight for it

Talking about the chances of an occupation being taken off SOL or not, I guess it's more complicated than we can possibly imagine.

I truly think there is a process involved for any small change to be implemented. Looking at the huge amount of statistical data the states/territories and other agencies like Skills Australia have access to, it's mind boggling to actually take a decision (I came across these while researching as to how Vic came up with its SMP list and what does the phrases "skills in demand" and "skills shortage" actually mean).

I know, just going by what DIAC does, we (the-would-be-immigrants) tend to throw brickbats more often than not. DIAC is just an organisation which has to follow the instructions set by the government and/or the immigration minister, who on one hand had to convince the general public various steps being taken to control immigrant population and on the other have got to keep the corporate world happy who are crying for more immigration so that the salary levels are under control.

People get you votes, and businesses get money, which of course is the root of all evil.

I'd imagine it's actually not an easy task to be in those shoes (be it in Skills Australia, Vic Skilled and Business Migration department, DIAC, etc).

P.S: For those who are really desperate to lay their hands on number of apps received by DIAC under each of the occupations, here's a link:

Yep, Uli I know I'm the verge of being offered the golden key or kicked off the hill.

Edit: I'm in no hurry, as my ACS app is, well, you know "In Process"

The easiest option for you will be to get an ACS-reassessment to get a proper ANZSCO-code. See also: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/acs-skills-assessment-review.pdf . Apply for a code that is on SOL schedule3 and you'll then be bumped up to cat3. You should have your visa by the end of the year. I'd wait until the new SOL is out in July before applying to the ACS. Just to be on the safe side in case they kick some ICT-occupations off the list.

Or resit the IELTS and try the ACT but the outcome is questionable since they don't have so many places in their quota. Vicky once wrote that ACTs SMP team is very helpful so you might want to contact them before to check your chances.

Worst option. Wait for the cat4 to be processed. It is said to start in FY 2011/2012 but it might take quite a while until they reach the 2010 applicants.

You see, there's plenty of options. Go for it !

But my occupation isn't in CAT3 rather they have kicked it in CAT 4. That means even if i reassess it will i 'll get a code in CAT4. I couldn't understand how i can reassess into CAT3?

May be 4 more years of waiting - and they'll start Cat 4.

Anyway, continue to hope the best.
