ali
There are lots of child care facilities in Oz, I'm not sure what qualifications you need to work in them - get your wife to look on seek.com for jobs to see what sort of thing is available, or google child care facilities (for where you want to go) and contact a couple. KazzE
There are lots of jobs but I think you will find that they will want some sort of qualification, this has to be assessed by the childcare dept of the state you move to best thing would be to research the state you are moving to a look for childcare on thier sites which should lead you to the regulatory body and tell you what is needed. I used to have some links but since my computer lost the will to live and took ALL my hard drive with it I don't have them any more, not too hard to find tho. What is your time frame? maybe she could do some sort of qualification before you go? Most local authorities in England are providing a lot of support for the childcare workforce so she should be able to access free or heavily subsidised training. My hubby is a welder (and a powder coater and a fitter and a few other things as well) and he keeps finding loads of jobs in this field. just need that bally visa:arghh: would be more than happy just to get the acknowlegment, they have had the money for over 4 weeks for goodness sake:cry: but I am not bitter, oh no, not me, just sitting here patiently waiting for them to acknowlege my existance.........................................................
Lazy Cow
I can only speak for Adelaide, and then only my own experience, but.... I have worked as a TA for some years, but have no formal childcare qualifications. I found, and was offered, a job working in a child care centre. The lady in charge reckoned my experience would be enough.! Someone I know of was offered a job in one of the ABC centres, again without formal qualifications, so it can be done. I believe you may need to take Mandatory Notification and First Aid courses, but the centres seem more than happy to arrange these. The Mandatory Notification thing is pretty new, so there are courses all the time -and only take a day, so no biggie! To work as a TA (Teacher's Assistant/Aid) I need to be registered with DECs. They told me that they weren't registering any more TA's unless the request comes from a prospective employer. If you have experience in working with kids who have special needs, apparently there is a lot of work to be had. I figure if they're desperate I'll have more of a chance, so I'm volunteering at a local school (the principal very kindly offered to help), then if I prove my experience, they will fast track me!:cute: Don't suppose I've helped at all as you are off to Brisbane and not Adealide, but still...I tried!:wubclub: Good luck! Guest Kim Hunter
Gee, if I were you and I wanted to migrate to Australia, there's no better time, if you are a qualified welder, get sorted with your TRA and apply for PR as welders are in demand that's why they're on the occupations in demand list for the whole of Australia (extra 15 points). Once here your wife won't have any trouble finding work and if required she can upgrade her qualifications. If you need help, get me to do it all, or buy one of our kits or if you're really brave just go it alone and tear your hair out. Whichever way you go, Australia needs qualified tradespersons, lots of work over here, so get cracking! Guest Kim Hunter
Howdy, Check out of new website - click the 'buy a kit' button, we personalise our kits so we know what your occupation is so we can give you the proper information regarding where to apply for your skills assessment and how to go about it eg welders are TRA and they can be very difficult as a lot of subscribers already know. We firstly give you a free assessment so that we know that you'll qualify and have a good chance of getting your PASA. Kits are priced at Aus $249 for just kit (including all forms and information) or A$349 for kit plus on-line support (ie can ask us questions via email as many times as you like over 6 months). Kits include full instructions for skills assessment and visa applications. Takes a bit of the headache out of not knowing what to do from someone who knows what to do.
