Hi,

I've just moved to Melbourne this week on a defacto visa. My boyfriend's Aussie, went to uni here and has a well-established group of friends. I'd like to make some friends of my own, particularly as I've just left mine in the UK and am missing them already! Keen to hear from people in a similar situation. I'm living in Hawthorn, but would be good to hear from anyone in any part of the city.

Thanks!

Charlotte

Hi Charlotte There are monthly PIO get togethers held in the city take a look at this post http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/socialising-get-togethers/90144-regular-melbourne-drinks-night.html Kathryn is the one who organises them so I am sure if you drop her a pm or post on the thread they will get back to you. Unfortunately I haven't been I think I'm too old lol. There is also a get together in Mornington this weekend but it may be too far for you and will probably be mainly families. Otherwise if you want to pm me I can put you in touch with some people. Kate

Hi Charlotte;

I'm 31 and my husband is 34 and we have just arrived in Melbourne. We spent today looking at potential places to rent. Steve starts work next week so I'd love to meet up with a friendly face. Send me a message and we'll see what we can do. We're currently in temporary accommodation in Southbank for the next couple of weeks.

Hi Charlotte,

I moved over here earlier this year am 27 years old. I live with my partner ( an aussie )in Werribee in Western Suburbs. I am originally from East Anglia - emigrated over here under a skilled migration visa. Anyway would be more than happy to exchange emails & chat - also be nice for me to meet a few folks over here too. I was over here a few years ago on a working hol visa so had a few friends - still be nice to meet new people. Hope you are settling in well. Drop us a line at anytime.

Thanks

Andy

Sounds like we need to get a date and place confirmed!!

Ive only been here 6 weeks so dont know too many places....so any ideas guys?

I don't know that many places either, but how about something fairly central to make it easy for everyone to get to? And, maybe early December? Before everyones Christmas parties totally take over?

This is great glad there are so many of us in same situation! Maybe a Sunday session in a couple of weeks, now the summer seems to have started? Looking forward to it!

Sunday in a couple of weeks is good for me (work do on the friday so need recovery time!).

If people are in agreement should we try and set this as a date? This may be better than a fri/sat night out as if the drinks are flowing and its loud, talking and meeting each other may be tricky.
