Hello Everyone

I am not really sure if i am doing this right I have been reading all the fantastic advice and gossip for a long time now and really enjoy the good humour we are looking to go to Brisbane in March 08 so sitting patiently with fingers crossed and praying on a daily basis for the Visa

I have a question which i hope someone can help me with can anyone tell me the cheapest way to call your family back in England from Brisbane they do not have a computer so Skype is no good

Many thanks to everyone for shareing all your knowledge it has been a great help

Kindest regards:notworthy:

Hiya i signed up with Telstra for my landline and the package i have gives me a 4 digit number to key in before the country code, all the calls are then cheaper ,i think a 15min call cost approx $1.35.My dad who is in the uk buys 'cards' from the local corner shop and he says these reduce the cost alot when he calls here, but im not sure how they work.My mobile is 35cents per text sent to the uk,so dosnt work out too bad, hope this helps a little

when we visited our friends in Coffs Harbour they spoke of this and said they buy a 'pre paid' voucher thingy which cuts down the cost big time, you just dial a prefix before the number. Would imagine you can buy these all over Oz if that helps.

Use vouchers - like OZCALL. We buy a $20 voucher and get over a 1000 minutes for that. You call a local land line, put in a pin code and away u go! My phone bill is non existent! I pay more for line rental than for calls

Yeah you can buy international calling cards from garages (petrol stations) for $5, $10, $20 etc. As stated above the $20 card gives you over 1000minutes. Cheap as chips.

It's possibly cheaper for someone to call from the UK, using one of the cheap call companies. I use 0871 7549090, which can be a bit of a pain to get connected, but is only 1/2p per minute to call Australia, or 6p per min. to a mobile number.

The cheapest way we found for phone calls , was at the local newsagents ,and ask for a $20 Go bannana's phone card ,It's realy a bit of paper , then you call the local number ,put in the pin number which on the paper , dial your international number and you are connected . We use them all the time and have never had a bad connection yet . the amount of numbers is a pain , but once you get the hang of it .

Get dialing ......................................
