Visa Granted- Heading to Point Cook

Recommended Posts

Guest beckydrinky81

Woo hoo!! we recieved notification that our 457 visa had been granted yesterday only 8 days after uploading all the information, havent had to have medicals, the only thing that they requested was certified copies of passports, we just sent colour copies of passports and hoped for the best so couldnt believe it when got email saying it had been granted.

So now its full steam ahead, seven seas came and collected our packed up boxes today and OH has given notice at work, we are going to book flights for around 25th oct and are moving to the point cook area, although we havent found a house yet have been in touch with some agents. Would be great to meet up with anyone when we arrive and for the kids to make some friends

Hi Becky,

Hope it all goes well for you, we are also looking at the Point Cook area and are (fingers crossed) moving around the same time as you. What made you decide on the area, have you been before or do you know anyone there?

We are looking at lots of areas and still can't make our minds up

Hi Becky

Congratulations

We have only been here 2 months and living at Sanctuary Lakes which is right next to Point Cook for just over a month. The renting process is a bit of a nightmare here - they have open times of 15 mins slots, so could be loads of people looking at the same tme, then you have to submit an application form, and hope your get picked.

Happy to meet up when you arrive - bit daunting to start with, so if you need any informaton beforehand let me know.

It is just my husband & I here - so no kids for your kids to make friends with :-)

Sounds like you are very organised that end - makes it a lot easier when you get here if you have not gone too long to wait for your furniture to arrive.

Allie

Hi all. I have also recently got my 457 visa and arrive on the 9th of october and also have been looking at point cook, sanctuary lakes amongst other areas and like the look of them both. I will be working in parkville area and don't want too much of a commute as I commute for 1 and half hrs at the min! We have 3 boys 11, 13 and 18 so happy to meet up when you arrive too. See you all soon!!

Congratulations on your visas, now this is where everything becomes real. Point Cook is lovely and there are a lot of PIO members on here who live in and around the area. Keep a look out on the PIO Socialising Forum Socialising & Get Togethers - PomsInOz Forum

Hey ,

congratulations on the visa.. We live in Sanctuary Lakes, but think we will end up in Point cook as its better for the boys. (13 and 15) to get to soccer oval/cricket etc....

We are def up for a meet when you arrive, or happy to give as much advice as you need before you arrive.. First few weeks are mad. As Allie says renting can be a pain, BUT I was offered advice on trying to offer 3 months rent up front and when we did that (after losing out to other houses) we ended up being accepted.

Good luck with the planning... Oooo you will be here for summer.!!
