Hi all, Myself, my wife and daughter have just started the visa process, I'm a mechanic and my wife is a clerical worker for NHS,we're hoping to head for Brisbane, but, the more research we do, the more confused we become! I hope this sounds familiar... The only thing we are certain of, is that we want to go A.S.A.P!! This seems a great site and really encourages when needed. Any advice on job finding, schools etc. would be really appreciated, Cheers, Tony

Hi Richy

Welcome to PIO, there are quite a few people on here who are in or headed towards QLD, so they'll be a a mine of information. Australia migration - suburb profiles, accommodation, schools, real estate, jobs in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Darwin and Hobart also has a section on Brisbane - don't know how good it it for suburbs/schools but may be worth a look

Good luck with the process

Hiya guys welcome to poms in oz ,we came out here last november hubby is a diesel mechanic and im a support worker,Brisbane really has too many nice suburbs to choose ,its a tough job !!Its easier if you write a list of what you want in an area, how far to beach?,schools? shops?etc, work seems readily avail so shouldnt cause much of a problem, have a look at real estate.com for property prices as suburbs vary greatly and this may help narrow down areas,,hope this helps a bit ,,post away with any questions ,someone will be able to help,,

hi we only started visa process in January, has tooks ages getting employers references,

finally have got them all for the TRA.

City and guilds has held us up also my husband is a plasterer and we are wanting to go too around brisbane area.

We are considering going over on a temporary visa 3months to 4 years and getting

sponsorship through a recruitment agency, they search for companies looking for skills

in demand and help you. Even though we have enough points, its quicker this way and

you have to work for the company for 2 years,

Hi and welcome to PIO.

You will get lots of great advise from people on this site. Not me, unfortunately, as I know nothing - but learning fast from the posts on here.

Good luck with the application process.

Hi and welcome guys,

we are relativley new to PIO too and so far have had loads of our questions answered and at times just nice to know that we aint the only ones going through the emotions getting a Visa brings. We are also headed for Brisbane but really cant seem to decide on which suburb to choose as they all seem to have pros and cons, main things we are looking for are good schooling and quite a busy little place as we are city people to begin. Anyway goodluck with things and remember to keep us informed on how things are going.

Hello! Have fun doing visa stuff then sit back and enjoy the ride. :goofy: Actually maybe not straight away, but I'm hoping it'll get easier and I'm sure that there's loads of people on this site who can help, that's if they haven't already.

Luv Mxxx
