Guest parcol
Hi All Has anyone as an IT engineer had any experience in applying to the ACS (Australian Computer Society) I have to provide a list of my duties in my present and current IT jobs that i have had. Should i just summarise the roles/responsibilities or does this need to be explained as if it was to a trainee or somone who is nt technical at all? by this i mean simple and in all detail? Not really sure of the requirements, therefore all help would be much appreciated Many thanks to all :notworthy:
bluetvrs1
I got ACS accreditation for being a system engineer but the process is the same. Simple and as much detail as possible seems to be the way. I sorted mine into sections and provided as much evidence as possible. Try and make it easy for them to understand. To give you an idea, my submission was about 50-70 pages (spanning 20 years). A friend of mine with similar experience submitted a 6 page effort and was rejected.

bluetvrs1
Hi Parcol, Their website at Australian Computer Society - Application Process defines what they want and the timescales involved. TBH I looked at my application again and it was more like 30-40 pages (it was 6am ish when I wrote it!) and some of that was evidence from my IT degree. I looked at my CV and really expanded out each job I'd had including languages/hardware and OSs used. When I structured my data pack I sectioned it out with summaries and indexes to make their job as easy as possible. I had no questions from them and they took about 9 weeks. Assume that the people reviewing your case know what you are talking about and it isn't worth telling untruths. Hope this helps...
Guest parcol
Hi bluetvrs1 Many thanks for the reply and advice. These things are never easy, now all i have to do is write all this down probably take me at least a week:) sure it will be all worth it. So tell me how long have you been in Aus and how long did it take to find a IT job?, ideally love to get sponsor ship meaning we can get out there asap, but not sure of any companies that are sponsoring or how best to approach this? Thanks gain Cheers
bluetvrs1
I transferred with my company so I was pretty lucky in that I didn't have to job hunt. If you are going to Syd/Mel/Brissy etc. you'll find it easier to find an IT job. From what people have said though, most companies will only be interested once you have a visa. Good luck with the app....
Guest parcol
Hi bluetvrs1 Seems i sent this twice, sorry just ignore one of them, cheers Just starting to put together my application, to be honest still not sure how i should word it and how it should look on paper? You don't have a quick example do you, not saying this is from yours but just an idea to get me started, i have completed about 6 pages so far but it appears that I’m telling a story rather than detailed outline of my experience and qualifications. Anyway if you can that would be most appreciated, if not i understand and thanks again vbmenu_register("postmenu_127805", true);
