Guest sibo04
Hi Guys My partner and i have the temp 309 visa, as we understand the permanent visa can be applied for after 2 years.... Does anyone know if this is 2 years from being granted the visa, or 2 years from actually entering the country? (we entered 9 months after the visa was granted). Incidentally, we were told in the visa office that it was from the date of the visa being granted but this did not sound right!, anyone been through the process already? Also anyone know the deal with extended travel outside australia, once on the permanent visa? Thanks
Qflyer
The 2 year wait starts from the date of application lodgement.
Les Mighalls
Also anyone know the deal with extended travel outside australia, once on the permanent visa? Yes. Stay in touch with DIAC and give them a permanent address they can send the paperwork to as they will chase you 21 months after the date of your application. If you don't have family, approach a couple of migration agents for a price to handle things for you. The cost should not be that great.
