2231-79(NEC) with no Case Officer

Recommended Posts

Guest triumph01

Hi Everyone ,

I applied prior to 1st July, 2010 and was on Priority # 3 on previous list(i.e. CSL & SS). My code & occupation was 2231-79 & Computing Professional(NEC).

With recent changes i fall in Priority # 4 that left me no where.

Though there is a ray of hope for computing Professional (nec) having CO (i.e. they will be contacted shortly and they will be processed separately bla bla) yet 19th July changes say nothing about people in same profession but unfortunately with no CO.

Lets share how many of us, are in the same situation. Do anyone has any good news to share for Computing Professional(NEC) with no CO?

Regards

Hi Triumph,

Thanks for starting this thread. My OH was assessed as 2231-79 with a .NET specialism. This meant that we were on the MODL and CSL when we started all this. We were about to apply when the MODL was scrapped and so we applied for Queensland State Sponsorship which was turned round in a superfast 3 weeks! This meant we could lodge just before the cut off date on 7 May 2010. I'd been checking the DIAC website every day this month as I was sure we were due to get a CO any time now.

We're left more than a little confused by the changes and where this leaves those of us who had specialisms in high demand under the old system but don't even seem to be referenced in the priority processing.

2231-79 with no specialism automatically maps to occupations that aren't on the new SOL, but there is no mention of .NET, Java etc. On the basis of this automatic mapping, the SMP doesn't seem to offer much hope either - unless we forfeit all our cash and start again from ACS assessment, but frankly we just can't afford to do this. All in all it seems as though the specialisms have fallen through the gaps.

I understand the point of all the changes but the transitional arrangements are fairly poor. It just seems so strange that Queensland prioritised our state sponsorship and yet now we seem to have dropped to Priority 4! It doesn't stack up. Particularly as friends out there, and the media, keep talking about the need to IT specialisms.

If anyone can shed any light that would be marvellous.

Sorry but this is the brutal reality, now a guy who will applied after 1 july with same are even less skill set will be processed fast as compare to us, we 'll see ppl come & go. We have only hope of SMP and i have my reservation on that even. only we can Pray to Almighty. I was in peace after applying that now i am in a pipe line and my application will be processed in a 12-15 months time (at max) but now it seems a night mare and it seems we have to wait until they cap and cease us.

I don't see that we will be treated equal to other applicants (i.e. 2231-79, Computing Professional (nec)) who are lucky enough in getting COs, since DIAC has categorically announced changes for those.

Keeping fingers crossed for some clarity! Just out of interest triumph, what was the specialism that got you CSL and which state were you sponsored by?

That is why you should write to DIAC or voice your opinion on this unfair situation.:cute:

Isn't the SMP based on ANZSCO? I doubt it would rescue any 2231-79 (ICT Recent Grads).

Yes User Name the SMP is based on ANZSCO...But recent grads who apply after 2010 July gets the ANZSCO Code from ACS based on their Degree and they will match it with the Current ANZSCO codes on the new SOL....

My OH is not a recent graduate! He's a Computing Professional with 25 years experience! He was classified as 2231-79(.NET) which falls under the NEC classification.
