Quoll 6,354 Posted June 24, 2010 Add me to the list of supporters. I proudly wear my Help for Heroes band here in Aus and people look at me a bit askance. I wont be taking it off for some time yet. Just wish Australia had a similar day.

Without turning this into Australia vs UK (and I know you are not doing that either) because this is not what this thread is about. I think ANZAC day plays a special roll in Australians remembering our service men and woman, I've googled when we have our Armed forces day and if I've read it right, it lists ANZAC day as Australia's Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Well worth opening the link for a look. :wubclub: Kind Regards Geoffrey (32, an aussie!!), Tracy (35), Jake (7), Jessica (2) & Joseph (1) :jiggy:

But I'm not quibbling here, and for personal reasons I wont go into it, but the Armed Forces of whichever allied nation has my total support.
sheryl12 193 Posted July 6, 2010 I hope your son comes home safe and well, my full respect goes out to him and all that are in his shoes :notworthy: I'm sure as a mother you must be full of emotions at this news. :wubclub: I take it he will be away for Christmas? hi ,only just seen your reply, have been to sunny devon for a week!! thanks for that, it is such a worrying time for us mothers, but if you speak to the majority of lads who have to go over there (my son included) they say that while they are over there fighting to keep our country safe they are keeping the terrorists off our streets!! its going to be much harder this time for him tho as he has a newborn, so he will miss her first christmas,my 40th birthday celebrations, his birthday and POSSIBLY his daughters first birthday,so i think it might be a more emotional seperation this time, we just have to keep him happy with lots of pictures and parcels and pray that he keeps safe as he is out in the field a lot of the time searching for IDU's, he recently passed his para course and passed his sniper course the day before his 21st birthday!! so you can imagin from a mothers point of view i have visions of him jumping out of a plane shooting at some other sniper lol (oh the joy of a overactive mind), thanks for caring geoff. shez x x
