sherin
Hi George, many thanks for the information. In my typical female brain I was wondering the following, schedule 4 is the occupations that DIAC will accept for State Sponsorship. I wonder if and when the State/Territories publish their individual SMP's and the occupations on Sch 4 do not factor (in part) on their specific lists will they still be required to offer sponsorship to applicants in Sch 4 occupations? It just seems a bit silly to have a list of occupations that are eligible for state sponsorship and then an applicant not being able to be considered becuase their specific occupation, while on the sch 4 list, does not factor on an SMP. Maybe I am jumping the gun and should just wait for the SMP's to be published but I am sure it is a question that is on many peoples minds. Would be interested to hear your thoughts. Regards There is quota of 100 off-list occupation which a state can sponsor.. so I believe whatever occupations specified in Sch 4 can be sponsored any which ways... and on top of it there could be 100 more occupations a state can sponsor !!!!!... I am just guessing hope I am right... dont wanna mislead anyone...
Guest Jane1991
I'm so surprised to see accountants ( of all 5 types ) in the lists .... So much for the negative publicity surrounding the profession ! :chatterbox:

Guest nitsy
Hey Guys, Not sure if you have gone through this link - http://www.immi.gov.au/gateways/agents/pdf/reform-skilled-migration-june-2010.pdf. Thought might be of interest. It does mention that the final SOL list might be a bit bigger than the one that was out in May. The list which George has provided does prove it. My occupation of Insurance broker was not on the initial list, now its in schedule - 2 & Schedule 4!! regards, Nitsy

Guest Jamie Smith
Hi all I used a pdf to Word converter to be able to cut and paste then sort the tables. If I've done this right, these are the occupations that will apply for SOL post July 1 ie not Schedule 1&2 transition occupations. The ones on the SOL that do not need a sponsor are marked with XXXXXXXXXX (Schedule 3). Anything without the XXXXXXXXXX is an occupation that needs a sponsored visa application (Schedule 4). This is the main focus of the Hire A Migrant business. Please give feedback in case of error. I'll soon have it up as a pdf for download from my website once feedback has been given. NB, some occupations are listed twice on the DIAC but only once here, this is because my list does not consider the different assessing bodies for country of origin. This list is sorted on ASCO code. The next message will be the list sorted by occupation. Guest Jamie Smith
Hi all Sorry I had a conditional format go wrong and had the wrong markings for needing sponsorship or not. This list has now been edited and should be correct. Thanks VirtualBajwa for making me think about it! Same list sorted by Occupation, and *** YES *** means is also on the SOL for independent unsponsored visa. Hire A Migrant mostly works with sponsored visa applicants but we also sort out employers for unsponsored independent visa holders just before they arrive in country. 411511 Aboriginal and Torres Ozzieland
Now Im completly in a mucking fuddle!!! Does this mean Haidressers are ok particularly if they have already lodged and SS ?? Heeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllpp The above list contains all occupations as per the current SOL or Schedule 4 (whatever you want to call it). The only difference is that this list has ANZSCO codes and not ASCO codes. What Jamie has done is simply ticked off the occupations that appear in the new SOL and the rest need sponsorship either by an employee or State Sponsorship. This is for new applicants and not to those already in the system. According to DIAC, changes do no apply to those already in the system.

Sched 4 is perhaps going to be the new SOL, it only applies from July 1. The Schedule 1 & 2 lists are interim occupation lists and will die on June 30. The ones marked XXXX or YES are on what looks like the new SOL, the ones not marked that way ie just a code and occupation name, are for sponsored visas and as I understand it are also the occupations that the States must draw off for their SMP lists. Jobo
Hi there, I think you are getting mixed up with the two schedules. These IT occupations in red are on sch 4 which means you can only apply for a visa if the occupation is on a SMP and you get sponsored by that state. looking at sch 3 there is no change to the list of IT occupations, if anything it actually looks like worse news as the telecommunications network engineer has to be assessed by Engineers Australia, not ACS My OH has a positive assessment for network security from ACS but it now looks like he will have to apply to Engineers Australia and start afresh...OR he could wait for a SMP to be released and try to get sponsorship with the network occupation on the sch 4. To me this announcement makes things more confusing...i think we are all best to wait a few days until more is known and then speak to our agents. lets hope the SMPs are released soon and people can get a better idea of what this means to them!! what is your IT occupation...have you lodged a visa app yet or do you have to wait until after 1 July? I think there will be alot of confusion for IT professionals. Jo
Guest mpogr
There is definitely a lot of ambiguity and confusion regarding IT professionals. Just look at this list: 261111 ICT Business Analyst ..........XXXXXXXXXX 261112 Systems Analyst ..........XXXXXXXXXX 261311 Analyst Programmer ..........XXXXXXXXXX 261312 Developer Programmer ..........XXXXXXXXXX 261313 Software Engineer ..........XXXXXXXXXX 261314 Software tester 261399 Software and Applications Programmers nec 262111 Database Administrator 262112 ICT Security Specialist 262113 Systems Administrator 263111 Computer Network and Systems Engineer 263113 Network Analyst 263311 Telecommunications engineer ..........XXXXXXXXXX 263312 Telecommunications network engineer ..........XXXXXXXXXX There is plenty of overlapping professions, some eligible for independent migration and some not. For example, I've just got positively assessed under ASCO code 2231-79 (Java and C, C++, C# Specialist) and the biggest question now is how on Earth they will map it to the new codes? If it becomes 261312 (Developer Programmer) or 261313 (Software Engineer) then I'm fine, but what if they decide that it's 261399 (Software and Applications Programmers nec)? Who can tell the difference between those?
