I am a computer specialist, I hate about it and want to change my career (I know it is a dream), however I cannot be sure what profession I should go for.

Are you happy what you are doing in AU? What is your job and Would you suggest your job to other people?

I currently work in retail and I HATE IT. I like working with people but not in a retail environment. I'm gonna be giving in my notice soon as I've got a job a care worker, which I hope to enjoy more because I like helping people :). Just waiting on this damn CRB check!!. I'm hoping to study nursing next year at university because ideally that's what I'd like to do career wise, I need a job I like and a decent wage to live on, and you don't get that in retail unless you're the manager!

I like doing what i do, i love the freedom of working for myself and not being bossed by anyone, if i want a day off or go early i can, also my future is in my own hands as i have to get all of my work so if i am short it is my problem, and i dont have to worry about being made redundant, so i am happy.

NO,i hate it! but then ive hated it for 20+ yrs so should have retrained/done something about it,my fault,i'd rather moan!!

Your job sounds like the kind of job i'd love, but im clueless, only ever sent one email for instance, and that was just a reply!:biglaugh:the grass is allways greener i suppose?

Whenever my nephew mentions an apprentiship on the building i say "no! get into computers",i suppose happiness in your job is quite a rare thing

What about an apprentiship in electrics or plumbing for your nephew pablo, you never see a poor sparky or plumber and they should always have work. I have just started using a new sparky and he is only 23 with all his papers and has served his time and now he should reap the rewards.

Hi everyone

i love my job being a prison officer, its not always been like that, but i am practically computer based now and i am more relaxed and enjoying it more than ever and my posts on PIO i think reflect this, always polite, always helpful and always talking bull sh7t, like now.

My wife on the otherhand hates her job as a nurse, hate iasa strong word and she hates it more than that. Its strange though, i want to go to Australia and she doesn't, she is stressed and depressed and just puts up with the misery of it. Women, no man can ever know or understand what they are thinking.

we both have good wages with early retirement and final salary pensions, so all in all things could be alot worse.

I know I might have to do that lol, well I'm not looking forward to that bit in particular but I'm doing it more for the feel good factor. I want a rewarding job and hope to get this in nursing as well as care working. I'm looking forward to the medical side more aswell and being able to care for others emotionally! My first choice was psychology buuuut I am not staying at uni for 6 years to do that!

you are a star, you say what others think and dare not say themselves, like laughing at a funeral, or shouting out at a wedding when they say - does anyone know good reason why this couple shouldn't wed - you would shout - i have!!!!!!!!!!

Speak for yourself, not everyone will think what you and yorkshire pom think! But Tbh I don't care what others think about the job I am doing or will do. As long as I like it that's all that matters!

Alright mate, tell you what if their are certain members of society that deserve good pensions and good wages 2 of them would be nurses and prison officers, 2 jobs lots of us would not do but 2 jobs that are vital and deservs our respect:notworthy:

Yes but having a mrs who has done care work and nursing was explaining to the young lady, who i know is a young lady thta care worker means lookin after elderly incontinent bedridden people , cleaning **** , it must take an extremely strong will and vocation to do these tasks . I was explaining to the young lady these points because ther are a lot of youn g people who go into nursing and drop out because they did not think about the practicalities of cleaning ****. As a husband of a nursing professional i admire the guts and bottle they have dealing with bureaocracy and the arsehole public and the demands of the job , **** on 3 sides
