Guest Dotsy
Looks like this niche (Network Security / Firewall / Internet Security) is off the list!? What are my options now? Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
cornish78
I'm thinking (hoping?) it may come under Telecommunications Network Engineer?
Guest Sahaja
I am also very confused about this, and also wanted to know where is the Network Security Specailist in the new SOL...
Jobo
Hi there my OH had a positive assessment for Network/firewall security but we just missed out on the 8 May deadline so we are also hoping to shoehorn his skills into one on the SOL. we were thinking of the telecommunications network engineer and our agent does think its a good match...however we need to wait for further developments. if you looks at the ANZSCO site you can find the description for a telecommunications engineer and then some further info about telecomms network engineer. depending on your work experience you may be able to get a positive assessment. The quetion is - who does the assessing? DIAC are yet to confirm if this will be ACS and then ACS are yet to confirm how any previous assessments may carry over to the new SOL occupations. then you need to know how many points will be given for that occupation (as we are still waiting for that) and then if you dont have enough points you'll need to wait until at least after July for the State Migration Plans. if you have already submitted an application then hopefully the minister will keep to his word and continue to process your visa in line with the 8 Feb priorities. if you are not one of the lucky ones you'll have to keep an eye on the DIAC site, this site, the ACS site and hope for positive news - we mst get some soon!! good luck jo
mansukhpatel
It will be quite interesting to see the changes and the requirements from both ACS and DIAC over the next few weeks I have have been quite unfortunate as I initally lost 15 points for MODL, delays on my part. Pushed to get the IELTS done to make up the 5 points but by then all applications were suspended. To make matters worse they have removed the occupation from the new list which originally was in both MODL and CSL. All one can do is hope for the best and the transition from ASCO to ANZSCO for our occupation is smooth without more delays I am currently waiting for a result from ACS and it has been 10 weeks since the applications. From the statement below, does anyone know what will happen if I dont receive the assessment letter by the 30th June? The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has issued the following statement: ACS will make following arrangements in regard to Pre-application Skills Assessment (PASA): Applicants who hold, or are about to hold, an assessment outcome letter with an ASCO code issued by the ACS prior to 1 July 2010, are advised to apply for a review of assessment outcome and follow application for review process that will be publicised on the ACS website once the framework, in which new SOL would be applied, is introduced by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Up to and including 30 June 2010, assessment outcome letters will be issued in ASCO codes only. From and including 1 July 2010, assessment outcome letters will be issued in ANZSCO codes only. Guest Sahaja
Hi everyone! Look at this table below...the code 2231-79 became 26111 (table 2). Is that right? Guest Dotsy
Here is the link that Sahaja is trying to post: http://tinyurl.com/34q62wf This document appears to be old though (2008?). It may still be an indication as to what the mappings might be.
Jobo
The 2231-79 nec code transfers to a number of different occupations on here and some are only partial. I don't think it's going to be as straight forward as just checking this list because there were alot of 2231-79 specialisms listed on the CSL and i know that it wasn't easy to get the specialism confirmed by ACS in the first place...i don't think they will simply say specialism X transfers to code Y. i think they will review each previous assessment and decide individually, particularly as they are confirming whether you have worked in that occupation for at least 12 of the last 24 months. they only have a month to go til the new codes apply so lets hope ACS confirm the review process soon! mansukhpatel
There are alot of confusions especially for me and until everything is finalised, everything is a blur For those seeking under the 2231-79, I hope something positive comes out for everyone. Best of luck to you all

The sensible thing to say is there is no point in speculating...but its easier said than done. when we have all worked so hard to get this far and our hearts are set on living our dreams in Australia we'll grasp at the tiniest thread of hope. good luck to everyone - fingers crossed we'll have good news soon Jo
