Ozzieland
I defo recall reading that somewhere on here, it wasn't fact based but it was said around the time the 2007 applicants were capped and killed. Maybe everything is blurring into one  Well... I don't know of any mention of this on the DIAC site and I don't think any agent knows anything of the future... so just chill, it will be ok
Chris N Lora
Well... I don't know of any mention of this on the DIAC site and I don't think any agent knows anything of the future... so just chill, it will be ok I found a part of what I read in a post by one of the agents. 5. Some discussion among migration agents suggests that the cap and kill provisions might be used to knock off particular occupations or combinations of occupations and English skills. The suggestion is that the oversupply of cooks and hairdressers in the backlog, as well as accountants with less that 7.0x4 on their IELTS test, may be the next group to be capped and killed. Knew I wasn't going mad, although this process has brought me to the brink :biglaugh:

Guest Sheikh Murphy
George Lombard's post is spot on. (thank you George!) I understand these changes will not take effect until July, so any visas lodged will still be processed however this may need some further clarification? Now that hairdressers have been...ah cut (couldn't resist!) does that mean Oz has too many now and will that reflect in their price lists, as I understand that current Oz is one of thee most expensive places on the planet for a wash & trim?? cazhoney
I´m happy awith the new SOL. My occupation has been given a specific code (environmental engineer). On the old list, I was classified as Professional engineers NEC, together with a lot of other engineering fields.... So I guess Australia needs Environmental engineers, since it has created a code for it....

Guest perth1
What does this mean to an application that was a priority 6 (relative sponsored) but occupation is now on the new SOL list. Will it be looked at before 2012 now?
Guest anj1976
The faqs says the applications already filed wont be affected, is it worth it for a priority 5 to wait?? I'd rather apply for canada b4 my ielts expires in august than wait for another year (i have waited fr a year half already).. I know its too early to comment since the new SOL came in only this morning.

Guest Jamie Smith
This is not migration advice, just a rehash of DIAC's old and new SOLs. These are the new occupations listed on the new SOL Primary health organisation manager Special education teachers nec Special needs teacher Teacher of the hearing impaired Teacher of the sight impaired  These occupations are now delisted, but get some professional advice as some occupations might now be listed under another title/code. Some of the ones in red are curious omissions. Ones in blue were never in high numbers for demand I think. And some others in green are perhaps just a matter of technology or systems making the job less critical or the (manufacturing) employers are now in China etc. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
