Can someone share their IELTS Appeal experience? Are you successfully appealled your band? and how much have those been raised?

I was again very unsuccessfully having a 6.5 for writing when I got my result today. Listening 8, Reading 7.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 7.0. I really want to know if I stand for a chance to successfully appeal my writing part. Can everyone who had once appeal for their result share their experience?

I am on my very last chance to join the CSL list for Accountant with all band 7 on each elements.

I would have to speculate that most appeals do not succeed although I do not know this. But if appeals frequently succeeded, it would indicate a problem with the marking process. Note that the remarking process takes quite a long time, it might be worth just trying to get another test date.

Just do the test again sparky, you will miraculously get 7 or higher on writing. EVERYONE seems to get 6.5 on writing first / second time round - it's the only part of the IELTS test that you can't really argue with.

In case you haven't figured out by now immigration to Australia is one giant scam that you have to pay large amounts of money for - IELTS money goes to the BILLIONAIRE James Packer...who gambles it away...and this "arrangement" was approved by the Government several years ago (albeit with his Dad Kerry Packer). Just fork out another $300 for the test or cross your fingers for the appeal.

Alternatively, apply as a refugee and get a free application and free ride for the rest of your life.

My brother got 7.5, 7, 7 and 6.5 for speaking. He claimed he did well in speaking. Appealed and was not successful.

Then he retook in different centre and got 8.5, 7.5, 8 and 6.5 this time in writing. He was not feeling well and thought he did badly in speaking and got 7.5. But did not write long enough composition due to lack of time, which might explain the 6.5.

I was lucky enough to clear it the 1st time. Got L9, S7, R7.5 and W7.5.

Tips? Hmmm, I did not write too long, just kept it a little more than 150 and 250 words respectively. And i kept it simple, no bombastic words. Just simple and short sentence. Important not to make spelling / grammatical error.

Then again i might have been plain lucky...

you can get all the details about how to appeal and law: visit http://www.ieltsappeal.org/ ,. its handled by an Australian Immigration Law Firm, Fairfields Lawyers has provided specialist immigration law advice specifically regarding the IELTS Appeal.

APPEAL TO THE MINISTER

On the 1st of July, Fairfields Lawyers intends to submit a formal appeal to the Minister of Immigration & Citizenship and Shadow Minister for Immigration & Citizenship and Productivity & Population requesting amendments to the Migration Regulations and an accompanying policy directive that accounts for our recommendations. We have confirmed the legitimacy of our argument, and we will draw attention to the:

- Incompatibility of the current regulations with the overarching policy and goals of the federal migration program

- Inflexible and restrictive approach adopted by the Migration Review Tribunal in applying the regulations, which circumvents taking into account relevant and significant considerations

- The application of the regulations as they are currently interpreted leading towards an unfair and unreasonable result in light of the entirety of the situation (for certain classes of persons)

- The relevant interests of the Australian economy and small businesses as a valid consideration that requires due weight

- The lack of due process and ability to effectively present suitable grounds for review for review applications

We hope that these efforts will provide the means for the migration process to take into account the demonstrated value provided by skilled migrants by virtue of their particular skills qualifications, and the support it would lend to the Australian economy in addressing recruitment difficulties and sustained skill shortages in key industries. As an Australian law firm, we feel that it is our duty to recommend the most transparent, accountable and flexible process that allows due weight to be afforded to all relevant considerations in conformity with the goals and intentions of the Federal Migration Program, and contributes to the continuing development of Australia as a global economic force.

We believe that democracy entails the highest standard of justice, taking into account all circumstances of relevance without undue restriction. In light of Australia’s commitment to provide the highest standard of democracy to the people and all those who have a vested interest in the processes adopted by the Government, it is crucial that we have the most suitable, adaptable, appropriate and comprehensive process and procedures available.

OUR STRATEGY

Prior to submitting a formal request to the Minister for Immigration & Citizenship and Shadow Minister for Immigration & Citizenship and Productivity & Population (Australia), we held a preliminary press conference with notable ethnic media personnel, including community-centric TV Stations, Newspapers, and Radio Stations. It is a critical prerequisite to advance awareness of this issue and the social factors of interest to the Government, the Economy, the State and the Community.

Finally, we will put forward a formal request letter to the Minister encompassing all our recommendations and requesting a solution in line with the proposals we have put forward. This request will take note of all the legal, psychological, community and economic issues that are impacted by the ‘English Language’ regulations as they are currently interpreted and applied, and highlight the inconsistencies with the overarching policy goals of the Federal Migration Process.
