I was again very unsuccessfully having a 6.5 for writing when I got my result today. Listening 8, Reading 7.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 7.0. I really want to know if I stand for a chance to successfully appeal my writing part. Can everyone who had once appeal for their result share their experience? But if appeals frequently succeeded, it would indicate a problem with the marking process. EVERYONE seems to get 6.5 on writing first / second time round - it's the only part of the IELTS test that you can't really argue with. In case you haven't figured out by now immigration to Australia is one giant scam that you have to pay large amounts of money for - IELTS money goes to the BILLIONAIRE James Packer...who gambles it away...and this "arrangement" was approved by the Government several years ago (albeit with his Dad Kerry Packer). Just fork out another $300 for the test or cross your fingers for the appeal. Alternatively, apply as a refugee and get a free application and free ride for the rest of your life. Guest amer Posted April 17, 2011 Share Posted April 17, 2011 My brother got 7.5, 7, 7 and 6.5 for speaking. He claimed he did well in speaking. Appealed and was not successful. Then he retook in different centre and got 8.5, 7.5, 8 and 6.5 this time in writing. He was not feeling well and thought he did badly in speaking and got 7.5. Got L9, S7, R7.5 and W7.5. Tips? Hmmm, I did not write too long, just kept it a little more than 150 and 250 words respectively. And i kept it simple, no bombastic words.
