Hi, just posted temp student visa app (572) and hope to get this thru ready to start 2yr hairdressing course in Sept. Husband and 2 kids (10 and 9 yrs) coming too. Very exciting but scary! Not sure yet on schools or area of Brisbane - any recommendations gratefully received.....?

Can't seem to find places to rent furnished (don't want serviced apts tho) - is this the norm? thanks!

Hello:)

Welcome to PIO!! A couple of others on here are going to study in Queensland.....

We're off to Melbourne, but apparently furnished lets are very hard to come by....

Cheers,

Rachel

hiya guys and welcome to poms in oz,we have been in brisbane since last november and loving it ,furnished rentals are hard to get but there are a couple of cabin and caravan parks dotted about although i think most people head for a motel for a few nights,if your heading south brisbane i may be able to help with arrival accomodation, which college are you attending ?

thanks for replies. Yeah, when we first arrive hope to stay in a cabin on a camp site while we look for somewhere to rent longer term. What are the nicer areas with good commuting distance to BCD? Going to Spark Wynne Hoelscher Hairdressing Academy on Elizabeth Street - anyone know anyone who's attended?
