Just received an email from Immigration requesting our police, health ect. checks. So excited!!!

We have applied for the pathway 143 CPV, visa so our time line isn’t relevant to the regular 143 parent visa,, just in case anyone miss reads this.

143 CPV pathway visa is a new visa option, open only for eligible existing holders of the cancelled 410/405 visas retirement visas.

143 CPV pathway visa applied for November 2018

when you apply for sub class 143  ..?

As written above November 2018, but please note  you can only apply for the pathway 143 CPV if you are holding either a 410 or 405 retirement visa.

The pathway 143 CPV  is a completely different visa to the normal 143 CPV.

Congrats Ramon.  Do you have to do Aos with this route?

.As far as I know, the difference between the onshore 864, our original application, and the 143 pathway is.

You don’t need to have offspring here, so no balance of family requirement for a sponsor.

No Aos

No 10 year wait for Centrelink

We decided to take a chance and withdraw our 864 application and instantly apply for the pathway 143 as soon as it started in November, 2018 in the hope it might be quicker.

There is so much movement it is great to see those that were stressing alongside me are feeling the same feelings as I am right now.

Had my medical yesterday - talk about being thorough!

Should have our medicals in the next couple of weeks, how thorough was it? Should I be concerned? Don’t think I can loose weight before then !!! Ours will in Brisbane so might be interesting to compare. Spent today filling in the dreaded form 80, wasn’t too bad in the end just time consuming, then applied for both UK and Oz police checks. Having the UK one as well to be on the safe side, as we have spent a lot of time in the UK over the last 10 years.

Thanks.

When people have the medical do they/can they check your Medicare or private health records as well?

I’ve had a couple of claims in Medicare (under reciprocal agreement) over the years for fairly minor problems so there will obviously be something there. Thankfully nothing expensive or ongoing as I know one of the criteria to grant a visa is that your medical history isn’t going to cost them too much in the future.

They don't have access to any information you don't tell them, but you have to disclose any surgeries or hospital stays as well as current medications and medical conditions, etc.

I’m not quite sure for overseas applicants, but with the introduction of the My Health Record Perhaps they can now access your health record if you live in Oz? You need to take Everything MaggieMay mentions above, plus chest X-ray, and a letter from any specialists you have seen.

Hi,

as you have personal experience with 864, do you know if it covers aged care down the track (once granted of course)?

We will be getting private health but wondered what other costs we need to think of during the application process and once approved.

Appreciate any advice, thanks

Sorry for the delay in replying!

My understanding is that the bond payment is supposed to cover any need for social security for a 10 year period. After 10 years when the bond is returned they can then claim social security such as a pension similar to any other Aussie. With grant dates now looking around 5 years, that means your MIL would need to support herself without an Australian pension for around 15 years. If she is eligible for a UK government pension you can get it paid over here (that's what my parents do) but the amount remains fixed and doesn't increase with inflation. My parents work pensions increase the same as it would in the UK.

I don't think there is any other particular costs you should be aware of, just that general cost of living is more expensive here than in the UK so you should be comfortable your MIL can support herself

I'm glad we made the decision to apply for the on shore visa particularly as visa wait times have blown out. I know there is always a risk of them having their visa rejected and then having to return to the UK but them being here has been amazing.

Good luck with your decision! I'd recommend making it soon as the longer you wait to apply the further down the list you go

@Marilyn for the rest of us what was included in the medical? TIA!!

First had chest X-ray then had to pee in a cup so they can test glucose, protein and blood. Take your blood pressure, weight and height then get you to read letters an eye test. Goes through loads of "have you had...." then asks if you had any major surgeries long stay in hospital and if you on any medication. Takes blood pressure, then looks in ears and down your throat. Did knees and hand reflex test, Checked back, arms and legs for any skin issues. Laid down and she pressed all over torso. Took 1 vial of blood. Made me squeeze her fingers and then she placed both hands on my shoulders and asked me to push up while she pushed down and did same with the side of my face .

They come back to you very quickly if they need to see you again. They found an abnormality in my X-Ray which could be a few things so they called me back the day after and I had another 2 X-Rays done. I am now waiting for Radiologist to check it and they will come back to me. I was very stressed but the Physician was great - I asked could this be an reason for my visa not to be granted if its something serious and he said "No whatever it is we will process through it"

Hope this helps

Thanks Marilyn they certainly put you through a thorough exam.... I hope they get back to you quickly about the X-rays and it’s nothing to worry about... this whole process is stressful enough without added stress but nice to know they will work through things. Fingers crossed for you🤞

Hope you X-ray result is ok. From one Marilyn to another!
