Kush99, probably best not to be giving reasurrances the brother will get a visa when it’s actually very unlikely unless there are exceptional circumstances. The rules for dependents have changed in recent times. Exercise caution when commenting based on past visa applicants. Dependent was 25 for may 2015 and there was anthor appicant from march 2015, there dependent child was 26 when their visa was granted. Question, in the email it says Quote Login into your IMMIAccount, and go to ‘Manage Payments’, then select ‘Pre-pay Paper Service’ to make your payment and follow the instructions at ‘Other Payment’. Dear I wonder why it took so long nearly about 10 months in your case for 2nd vac invitation after aos acceptance letter. Please don't take me wrong as I am waiting for call for aos so just making guesses how long I have to wait after aos acceptance . Now that the Contributory Visa processing time is exceeding 49 months, can we apply for a visit visa with a Longer Visa Validity Duration (3 or 5 years)? The Longer Visa Validity Duration availability seems to be directed towards 103 applicants and not 143 applicants, since, amongst other clues, it asks for a parent visa Queue Date and disallows a parent visa Application Date. I do know 143 applicants here in the past have applied for and received the 600 visa which is normally valid for 3 years but only allows 12 months stay in 18 months period. It now usually also has conditions like can’t work, must have private health insurance which is expensive ( around £800 per person per year) can’t apply for another visa etc The longer visa for 3 to 5 years is far more expensive , ($5000 - $10000 ) will insist on private health insurance and proof of sufficient funds to support yourselves as you cannot work either. It’s not yet available although expected to be early this year - also you cannot apply for this until your sponsor has been accepted first and they will be liable if you need any financial support for anything The 600 visa may be a better bet?? Needless to say I no longer have it apparently australian private health insurance doesn’t look at pre existing conditions so that may help some people. nyorksgrannie Posted January 8, 2019 Share Posted January 8, 2019 Re health insurance in Aus, it doesn’t cover everything like in Uk most Drs/surgeons charge more than the health insurance allowance and you pay the balance. I recently had a fall and the specialist I was referred to was based at a private hospital, Medicare paid for some of the medical fees but I had to pay the surgeon days in advance of surgery (which was minor but still cost a lot) and then reclaim from medicare who only pay part of the amount charged. Bupa paid the hospital fees but not the surgeon, anaesthetist etc. This would explain why private insurance costs less than the Uk but all Australians are encouraged and expected to have it and are penalised when they don’t. Medicare doesn’t cover dental, Bupa who we are with and pay extra for dental, pay a fraction of total cost, for example I chipped a tooth, it didn’t need any anaesthesia ,was a quick job ,the fee was Aus$ 325.00 Bupa paid $80.20 I paid the rest. The service is usually good but you should be prepared for the costs involved as most on this site may well be fit, but are not young.
