Think I know the answer to my own question (which is to get an agent) but just wanted a sanity check...

Hi Qflyer... if you go down the root of an agent it really doesn’t matter where they are based as most communication is done via email and phone.  For your own peace of mind I would suggest all communication with the agent go via yourself .... otherwise you won’t know what’s been asked and answered. Regards your Dads health I have no idea what medical things have an impact on the health check... Sorry.. I wish him a speedy recovery. Best of luck. Shelagh

From experience I found that although I had a great deal of help/support from my agent generally, they can't answer questions relating to health (unless mine was being overly cautious), so I think you'll just have to wait and see.  When your father has his medical the medical officer will likely want additional information from the consultant, but keep as many reports/letters/test results as you can - it will all help.  Oh, and don't panic if they ask for more info!  I was a trembling wreck for a week until the MO had been provided with historical hospital stuff, so if you can get it in advance it might save a lot of unnecessary worry.  Best of luck.

These responses are a bit like buses.

I suspect no one can really give you answers at this stage, even an agent. Your visa is still possibly four years away from being processed and I think the outcome will hinge on your fathers health in this period.

If I were you, I would remain hopeful for a favourable visa outcome, but also be realistic and have a contingency plan in place.

I wish you and your family well.

As it will be some years before your parents will get asked for mediicals etc, I would wait a while. Certainly think you'll need to run it past an agent but I wouldn't yet.  Certainly hope not but something else could happen medical wise over the years and the advice you get now may not be relevant then.  I think what you've described your dad has may well be an issue but I'm not an agent.

There used to be an agent everyond recommended on here for people with complicated health backgroundsl, but I can't remember the name ... Anyone out there remember, George something? I was thinking you could have his contact details on speed dial, but wait a while to see how it goes with your dad.

I agree with Sadge that you should keep all medical notes, results of tests etc. While we were waiting my husband had a worrying development to his high blood pressure, which had been sorted by the time we got to the medicals so ee panicked for nothing! We also went to the medicals without the detailed results of a recent health check and had to email a copy of them when we got home ... more panic!

Hope it all goes well for you and your parents ... medicals are a big worry for many people I think, and with good reason. We always had a "plan B" in mind in case we were refused because of health issues. Good luck.

George Lampard whose based in Oz used to be a go to agent for medical issues.

The criteria was if the problem is significant with significant costs and is the person able to be independent.

I think people with certain heart conditions or those who have recovered have passed their medical.

Keep all doctors letters ,scans etc.  and medical records from the GP may be requested.

George Lombard actually. Or Peter Bollard or Richard Gregan. They’re the ones with medical specialists to give opinions.

Great news @Seamus, at last some movement! I hope your parents have their visas granted soon.

Has anyone else had any movement over the last few weeks?

Our daughter just got the AOS acceptance letter today after over 2 months and a multitude of phone calls and visits to Centrelink. Fingers crossed we will be able to book the flights and shipping soon. We used the direct number that a poster mentioned earlier but our daughter still had to tell Centrelink how to find the letter on their system!

AT LAST.  Just a week short of 8 months since our first AoS submission and our daughter has received the approval letter.  Hard to believe that we are a step closer!???

Wonderful news! Let's hope that this is quickly followed by a 2nd VAC request and then the long awaited visa. ?

God, I hadnt realised you were still waiting Pertenhall ... I dont come on the visa thead often these days ... Sincerely hope you are asked for your second VAC soon ... Youve been waiting so long.

They took 24 weeks to reject our first AoS application!  They have moved quicker on the second one thanks goodness, probably because they messed up so much with the first.  Hopefully IMMI will continue the good work!

Hi RealMVP. I secured AOS letter and uploaded it with Form 80 back in March. Additional documents were requested in July, it was about the scan of passports and a certificate of family composition for the purpose of family balance test.
