Hi Folks We are around the 13 month mark with our 173 application ,has anyone recently arranged their medicals prior to the allocation of a Case Officer. If so could you possibly share the process.I have read that this cant be done without a HAP number (whatever that is) .

If this is possible we are considering arranging this prior to the Christmas holidays, could possibly shave off a few weeks off this increasing wait period. Thanks Kev

We received our acknowledgement middle of September for a 143 visa application lodged June 14 this year .We have been instructed to arrange medicals 12 months after lodgement date which will be 14th June 2014 . On current trends you will not br assigned a case officer for possibly another 2 months !!! you could contact immi by phone or email and request a HAP number. Hope this helps good luck

Hello Veronique, excellent info as usual. I'm just being lazy, but what is a HAP number? Something to do with Health ............?? Not income Tax related I don't think. But, just how long does it take for immi to answer the phone, assuming the correct department is located, and emails are slow. Just shows how many queries they have to deal with though.

Cheers C.

Hi Carob HAP is Health Assessment Portal it's your ID number you need to organise your medical . Supplied byDIAC. I believe since late 2012 all medicals in uk must be done electronically. It is supplied by your case officer so who knows when we will get it. I think immi have stopped answering the phone and replying to emails we have been waiting for a reply to an email for nearly 4 weeks.

Hi Holidaykev. We are at the 15 month stage and still waiting for a Case Officer on our 173 visa. The HAP ID is allocated by the Case Officer when you get one. The medicals are now done electronically so you can't do them without the HAP. So fingers crossed for us all that we hear soon. Frustrating isn't it.

Regards Nuttynan

Hello Veronique, thanks for the info. As succinct as ever. Like me, I am sure you are wondering why we have been told roughly when to do the police checks and medicals, but can't actually do the medicals on line without a case officer giving us the HAP number!! Very odd(no change there then)

All the best, Carob

In some countries (eg South AFrica in my parents' case), you can still do your medicals without an HAP - their medicals were just sent by courier to Australia. I gather it is different in the UK

Thanks Learjet, I know there are a couple of forms we will probably have to complete and take with us for the medicals, but I have yet to print them out, so I can read them thoroughly. C

With regard to a HAP number, I read somewhere a while ago that for medicals, forms 26 and 160 will probably need to be completed. On looking through them, I see that on form 160 question 11, if you answer NO a HAP number is not required. The same applies on form 26 question 13. Anybody have any ideas on this one?!!!

almost certain to apply for this visa ,just asking if anyone has experienced the process with existing health issues i.e cancer. has anyone been successful, and if the appeal system is straightforward ,lengthy etc.

Hi Foz

I haven't been through the process yet because we have continuing responsibilities in the UK but I believe cancer issues are unlikely to be a problem to immigration once the person has been clear for five years. If you look on the parents thread, there have been lots of questions about this. From what I've gathered, if you look like you're going to cost the oz govt. more than a certain amount of dosh, you can forget it.

There are agents that specialise in people with difficulties, I believe. Alan Collett could probably point you in the right direction (see his post above.)

Hi all,

I've been lurking around but have not posted. Since my parents have just been granted their CPV 143 thought I'd share the process.

Since I was the authorised receipient in the application, all communications with the DIAC was by email including Visa Grant.

8/6/2012 - Application acknowledged

11/9/2013 - Case Office Request for Info (Given 28 days to provide info)

Info required:

Health Assessment (HAP ID Provided and requested for Medical Exam, Chest Xray and HIV Test)

Form 80 - Personal Particulars for Character Assessment (Complete this first as this is a real pain in the ***)

Police Certificate - Any country where parents spent more than 12 months in the past 10 years (Originals must be sent by post)

Assurance of Support (AOS) Request - A letter is provided. This letter must be provided to the Assurer who will have to include this letter with the AOS application.

16/9/13 - AOS application lodged with Centrelink in person at Customer Service Centre (Walk in without appointment)

Application form can be found online on the Department of Human Services website.

Note, the Service Centre will witness the documents provided and fax it somewhere to be processed.

Documents provided with application:

Assurance of Support Request Letter (as above)

Identification (100 points)

Proof of Residence (for Assurer)

Evidence of Ongoing Income (Payslips 2 most recent and consecutive)

Evidence of Taxable Income last Financial Year (ATO Notice of Assessment for 30/6/2012)

19/9/13 - Centrelink AOS Phone Interview

Called me at work number to check if I worked there. Nothing much just stating the responsibility as Assurer and not able to claim welfare etc etc for 10 years.

24/9/13 - Parents completed the Health Assessment. Some forms were completed but the results were lodged online by the doctor directly to DIAC.

25/9/13 - AOS Bank Guarantee Request letter received

27/9/13 - Bank Guarantee lodged with Commonwealth Bank (CBA) - only bank which is permitted to provide the bank guarantee

Walk in without Appointment

I prepared a bank cheque of $14,000(2 visa applicants) made out to my(sole Assurer's) name.

FYI, a 60 month Term Deposit was opened at 4.1% interest pa (paid half yearly to my personal account) as the bank guarantee. Will be renewed automatically until 10 years is up (starts when parents arrive or visa granted, whichever later).

Provided to CBA:

AOS Bank Guarantee Request letter (Above)

Identification (Australian Drivers License)

Tax File Number

Personal Bank Details (for interest)

$150 CASH (Administration Fees charged by CBA for the guarantee)

Received from CBA and provided to Centrelink on the same day:

Bank Guarantee (Assurance of Support) letter from CBA - signed & stamped by bank

Account Confirmation (Term Deposit) printout with account details

Centrelink faxed the two letters off for processing and stamped my Bank Guarantee request letter with a date.

30/9/13 - Received Centrelink letter Assurance of Support (AOS) have been accepted

Centrelink also notified DIAC directly of the acceptance of AOS so no further action required from me for the AOS.

1/10/13 - Signed and completed Form 80 emailed to Case Office. Original Police Certificate sent by post to DIAC.

11/10/13 - 2nd VAC payment request letter received (to be paid within 28 days from letter date)

Payment Options provided:

Bank cheque made payable to Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be post to DIAC.

or

Credit Card Authority Form (to be completed and emailed or faxed to Case Officer)

Also received together a Pre-Visa Grant Advice letter.

The letter said:

Visa has not been granted but nearing completion.

We must notify DIAC if any change of circumstances or health.

25/10/13 - 2nd VAC Payment made

Hope this helps guys. Good luck and all the best to everyone still in the process!

Wow, thanks for all the very concise information. We had our acknowledgement letter in August 2013, and we were asked to complete the dreaded form 80 straight away, also the letters for the panel medical doctors were included. Looks as if the sequence may have changed a bit since last year?!

I am going to print all this info. out for reference, it is so helpful. Thank you. C.
