Hi there the Oz equivalents to HGV are

C or class 2 = LR(light rigid) and HR (heavy rigid)

C+E class 1 = HC (heavy combination)

There's no UK equivalent to the Oz MC (mutiple combination or Roadtrain) license

UK HGV is not valid in Oz (unless you're on a Temp work visa I'm told by a recruitment agency)

Been told also that you can't take your MC license until you've held the HC license for a year!

Although in Queensland they'll let you take your MC if you've held a UK HGV 1 for over a year by doing 55hrs work experience on a Roadtrain not sure if the same applies in other states.

Hope this helps?

Thank-you so is it worth him taking his class one over here?

Personaly I'd wait till I was in Oz and take the HC there why spend your money twice !!!!
